How many innocent people will die because of the recent Washington Post revelations?

Item: Dana Priest of the Washington Post writes a front-page story on Wednesday headlined, CIA Holds Terror Suspects in Secret Prisons. Pay close attention to the second sentence of the story: "The secret facility is part of a covert prison system set up by the CIA nearly four years ago that at various times has included sites in eight countries, including Thailand, Afghanistan and several democracies in Eastern Europe, as well as a small center at the Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba, according to current and former intelligence officials and diplomats from three continents."

"Secret"! "Covert"! So after the press and the Left make a meal of the allegation that people in the White House might have leaked the name of a covert operative, and after we find out that Plame was indeed not a covert operative under the law, the Washington Post — by its own admission — can print classified information that involves covert CIA activity?

This is an outrage. It took less than a day for al Jazeera to run with the story. And by Dana Priest's own admission in an online discussion forum on the Washington Post's website she states, "The article [I wrote] is bommeranging [sic] around Europe, especially Eastern Europe."

It sure is, and now the European Union, the Hague, and other organizations are investigating our allies who are working with us in holding high-value targets like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and Ramzi bin Al-Shib. It's not enough that our allies in Europe have suffered terrorism (cf. Spain, the U.K.) because of their siding with us — we now have to expose others, and give more justification to terrorists to attack our allies? And we have to suffer the war-time distraction of rebuilding sites and moving these prisoners?

I am literally sickened by the Washington Post. How many innocent people will have to die at the hands of terrorists because the Washington Post has exposed all of these nations helping America in our War on Terror?

No doubt the Washington Post was hoping that this article was going to damage GW. The WP has exposed of these freedom loving people that live in these countries, to the hatred of the terrorists. Why would the WP endanger the lives of the people that live in these countries?

I completely agree.
The CIA itself is actively working to undermine the prez.
The media sharks are desperate for another watergate and will invent horrors if none exist - recall katrina coverage, the Abu ghraib puffup etc.
Worst thing is the attitude that media has like its speaking for the average joe. Who elected the media anyway?

To screw Bush over. Anything to look bad, anything to get rid of him. They don't give a crap about the others in these freedom loving countries. They are heartless, monstrous pigs who will do anything for a story no matter how many lives it costs in the end. Just so long as they have a story to screw someone over.

Sounds like it is time for a REAL investigation into the CIA's activity's. Right along with this reporter and whomever gave her this information.

This is nothing short of treason.

Anything to look bad...

Unless these prisons violate every international law that exists, there is nothing bad about them. They don't look bad. They are necessary and just. As an American, I want to know what my government is doing to protect me. I see nothing wrong with the disclosure of these sensible prisons.

This whole situation is scary and reminds me of another.

For years, the Republicans were the "law and order" party and police organizations publically sided with Republicans. Then there was Clinton with his 100,000 additional cops. All of a sudden, police organizations and police unions were very publically supporting Democrat policies.

Right now, it looks like an unholy alliance of CIA and MSM. Who gave what to whom and what for?

I really hate most of the media types I see on tv. The print media isn't any better.

All journalists care about anymore is getting their name out there. It's not about what's right, it's about creating a buzz. It's about vainity, 100%.

Of course you are right, but who's going to launch an investigation? Certainly not lily-livered Republicans. Maybe Republicans wouldn't be on the defensive so often if they went on offense just for a change. Heavens knows they have enough ammo if they would only use some of it.(Not holding my breath.)

I totally agree...the CIA has been a sieve for classified information for some time now...and it is becoming clearer and clearer to this reader that their aim is no less than the administration. Anywhere else and this would be called a coup attempt. But you won't see that printed in the old media, either. Frightening times.

What is really frustrating is when the Liberals keep saying that there were no WMD's, when the media itself, has reported it ad nausem.

And yet the Republicans(in the government)won't present the evidence and fight back.

I just can't figure them out any more.

Me neither. Sometimes I think that Hillary and the FBI files have something to do with it. Maybe, but that's kind of simplistic. No one, but no one should allow themselves to be beat up constantly without fighting back. I just don't get it. I thought once they had a comfortable majority things would change, but it hasn't. I don't know how long they will expect to have support when they won't even defend themselves. My husband is saying that he will not vote in the next election. he what for, democrats still run everything.

Part of what's not the CIA upset, is military intelligence is stepping on its turf. Bureaucrats can be vicious when they feel their positions are threatened

The media needs to be smacked. Hard. This isn't the kind of thing that should be written during a war.

Don't forget that the Clintinoids called this practice "renditioning" so it was ok then. The difference is that foreign intelligence agencies were involved in the interrogations whereas we have our own actual facilities/agents now in those countries.

Did anyone read the entire Wash Post article and notice a mention of renditioning?
