Agreed, but they probably speak in code as well, which is the more important issue finding in real time what is going on.

NSA lives to crack codes. The computers just have to recognize a voice pattern and then they dump the conversation stream into the puzzle palace's sea of super computers to chew on their code and compare it with others. It isn't exactly real-time, but the bad guys better not get too comfortable, as they will be receiving visitors shortly.
