Downtown Cleveland always seems very empty on weekends -- indeed any weekday after 5:00 pm. .
At least that' how it was when I lived downtown in 76-77.
That should help reduce this problem.
Some years ago (long before the war in Iraq), I wrote in another politics forum that we should deploy troops to every major city to root out the gang members. Boy, did I get an eyeful from the civil rights/ACLU crowd.
Far too many of these gangs have a stranglehold on big cities and even some small towns. I wouldn't care if the gangs just killed each other, but in some neighborhoods, you can't even sit in your living room without the fear that some gangsta is going to fire a bullet through a window. A number of innocents have been killed and maimed by these thugs. To hell with their civil rights. It's long past time that they are rooted out and the neighborhood given back to the residents.
Yes, I've seen it, they had a notice up at the station.
Coming up here in the next few days I think. I didn't take it too seriously, though I think I'll throw my M-14 in the trunk of my cruiser just for grins.

Seems to me that most major metro areas have superbly trained, heavily armed SWAT teams. Many of their members are former military, including Special Forces.
Just a suggestion..............turn 'em loose with carte blanche to take out gangs. Period. No questions asked.
Who's going to howl? The ACLU? The NAACP? Screw 'em. Let 'em prove it.
