Problem is that this is a remake and despite the job they do, it is a dead ending.
It seems a little different, though, as Jackson is a lifelong King Kong fan and is doing a "loving tribute" style remake. That's better than, "Hey, put a movie title on the dart board and we'll remake whichever one we hit." The Fog, for instance.
I didn't absolutely love the LOTR movies, but Jackson earned the benefit of the doubt with them.

I think the only thing the movie will have going for it will be the use of the newest special effects to make a more realistic monkey.
The monkey is found on an island, there is a girl in distress and the monkey will die in a great fall more than likely.
I don't think it will be much different, so I will wait and here if it is worth going to or waiting for basic cable.
