Not quite. One of the ideas for a solution being tossed around here in Georgia is to issue the voter ID at the DMV, free of charge. The driver's liscense could be used in lieu of the voter ID card at the polling place.
That way, there is no "poll tax" on either the rich or the poor, and the voter ID cards will be readily available.
I remember you could get an ID card and the DPS offices in Texas, having nothing to do with driving.
But doesn't that require a trip to the office?
That trip costs money.
Therefore....

Good idea. Missouri has issued state IDs at DOR offices (our version of DMV) for more than a decade. Same equipment, just a different photo template. Easiest thing in the world.
