Obstruction, perjury cited among options By Adam Entous, Reuters | October 24, 2005 WASHINGTON -- Federal prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald seems to be laying the groundwork for indictments this week over the disclosure of a covert CIA agent's identity, including possible charges of perjury and obstruction of justice, according to lawyers and other sources involved in the case. In a preview of how Republicans would counter charges against top administration officials by Fitzgerald, Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas brushed aside an indictment for perjury -- rather than for the alleged underlying crime of disclosing a CIA operative's identity -- as a ''technicality." Speaking on NBC's ''Meet the Press," she suggested Fitzgerald may be trying to show that ''two years of investigation was not a waste of time and dollars." Fitzgerald's investigation has focused largely on Karl Rove, President Bush's top political adviser, and I. Lewis ''Scooter" Libby, Vice President Dick Cheney's chief of staff, and their conversations about CIA operative Valerie Plame with reporters in June and July of 2003. Fitzgerald is expected to give final notice as early as today to officials facing charges and may convene the grand jury tomorrow to deliver a summary of the case and ask for approval of the possible indictments, legal sources said. The grand jury is to expire Friday unless Fitzgerald extends it. Fitzgerald still could determine that there was insufficient evidence to bring charges, but the lawyers said that seemed unlikely.

I wonder if Joe Wilson will notify his friends in the media when he receives his notice?

"I wonder if Joe Wilson will notify his friends in the media when he receives his notice?"

I sure hope that's part of the outcome. Joe has lied more than anybody else.

Note to media headquarters: lie requires more repetition. The Digital Formacid-American community remains unconvinced.

Hopefully, this week will see the end of this farce..

No law was broken, no one was "outed", no secrets revealed..

Recently I have been wondering if this is all just a ploy, a diversion of Dem resources, leading them on a fruitless quest.. Designed to waste their time..

These lefties will be completely undone if Fitgerald doesn't indict.

But this guy looks like a life-long dmocrat from Brooklyn and that concerns me some.

It seems to me, with the flurry of news breathlessly reporting all of these indictments that are supposed to come out of this Grand Jury, that the media is just setting up to be able to scream 'cover up' when NO indictments are handed down because the prosecutor found NOTHING for which to indict anyone. The media can then fulminate all the way up to the 2006 elections to try to smear every Republican candidate for Congress, then up to the 2008 election for any candidate who resembles President Bush, policy-wise, in any way.

In the MSM's mind, either way, they win.

NO QUESTION whatsoever! In fact, I have said (hollered, according to Mr. T, lol) exactly this, several times!

IOW, I was agreeing to what you said!

I should start making book with my Lib friends over this. I could ask for long odds on the bet that there will be absolutely no indictments, and they would be all over that action.

They really expect something is going to come from this steaming pile besides stink.

You know, nobody is that interested in this case. The public has never been that interested in campaign abuse cases. So what do these people hope to gain from this. We had very little luck with Clinton and the Chinese money...where do they get off thinking people care much about this???

"I wonder if Joe Wilson will notify his friends in the media when he receives his notice?"

I hope your right but remember it was the CIA that requested this selective investigation and ole smoke dope Joe is part of the "foreign friendly elements" in the Government. I believe Nikita is quite pleased with the prophecy of his statement in 1956. I will gladly eat crow if I'm wrong but this is not going to be a happy ending. We just damn well better be ready to fight and support Conservatism and demand the people we elect to do the same.

Not unless certain people in the CIA say she is. I believe that is about all it would take as "proof" may endanger National security. I have no confidence the CIA is friendly to American interests or competent. Just CYA lying legal criminals. Not all but many.

You can lie like a rug but not under oath. Did Wilson testify to the grand jury?

"campaign abuse cases"

That's an interesting way to describe it.

The only folks who have actually seen evidence described it as a serious case involving national security.
