Third party anyone? One that actually practices what it preaches.
Keep talking Colburn.
"Nope....won't happen. He's not part of the club."
But he is part of our club, or should be.
"Third party anyone? One that actually practices what it preaches."
Only if there are no Ross Peros.
"Congress is too friendly with each other.
I am convinced more than I ever have been....the ONLY way this get's straightened out...is TERM LIMITS.
Too many poster children for TERM LIMITS on BOTH sides of the aisle."
That and stop paying our taxes.

Plenty of other web sites....out there also..with this type info.
Coburn should be commended and the GOPers who voted against his bill should see the back sides of the conservative base in the GOP.
I hope he has not burned any conservative bridges for a better bill.
That bill would not single out the Alaskan bridge to nowhere, but would have sought across the board cuts throughout the $25 billion in pork in the transportation bill.
I hope there can still be such a bill.
I'd be willing to take anyone who'd swear to sign and abide by a set of principles. And who'd agree to resign if he/she ever came to a point where they could no longer do so. Congress critters are replaceable. Principles aren't.
massive tax boycott
Actually, in an indirect way, it can be done. Stop having the payroll dept take out extra dollar for taxes. Start educating people that it is actually better to OWE tax than get it back. The american people have been duped for years about refunds
One year I had to pay a combined state and fed tax of $800. I was so mad about it when I got back to work but my boss said look at it this way, the gov't didn't get to use your money for free. This way they will only get what they actually need.
I like this Daily Oklahoman! Such a refreshing change from the Post-Disgrace.
Allard (R-CO), Allen (R-VA), Bayh (D-IN), Burr (R-NC), Coburn (R-OK), Conrad (D-ND), DeMint (R-SC), DeWine (R-OH), Feingold (D-WI), Graham (R-SC), Kyl (R-AZ), Landrieu (D-LA), Sessions (R-AL)Sununu (R-NH), Vitter (R-LA).
E-mail or Fax them your support;... this "unwritten rule in the Senate" must not be allowed to go unnoticed so contact your Senators and let 'em have it. No money for campaigns for those who will not pull the pork and help the taxpayer!
In fairness to McCain, he voted with 12 other Senators for the first Coburn ammendment that day. He was not present or didn't vote, I don't know why, for the second Coburn ammendment that day.
Here is the roll call vote at all, from earlier that day:
Allen (R-VA) Burr (R-NC) Coburn (R-OK) DeMint (R-SC) Ensign (R-NV) Feingold (D-WI) Graham (R-SC) Hagel (R-NE) Kyl (R-AZ) McCain (R-AZ) Sessions (R-AL) Sununu (R-NH) Talent (R-MO)
The best way to impose term limits is to vote the bums out. The problem is that too many voters don't perceive their own representatives as a bum and therefore, they continue to return them to office. Voting the bums out may mean that we have to cross party lines from time to time, but the way I see things, with few exceptions, there aren't a lot of differences between the Republicans in Congress and the Democrats in Congress, as a whole: Despite having a Republican in the White House and a Republican majority in both the House and the Senate for the last six years, spending is out of control, entitlements continue to expand, school choice remains a dream, the tax code is as complicated as ever, wetbacks continue to invade our Country at a record pace, pork remains the favorite food on Capital Hill, a comprehensive energy plan remains elusive, and too many so-called Republicans support a womans' right to murder her baby.
If we want to hold our elected officials accountable for their conduct, then we need to show them that they are dispensible and that we are prepard to vote them out even if that means breaking ranks with our party.
We are shocked and extremely disappointed that you did not vote in favor of the Coburn amendment. It is NOT Senator Stevens who put you in office and by siding with his pork barrel politics, you have betrayed the people in Missouri who you represent.
Oooo. Nice!
I disagree....
As obviously that hasn't worked...
Not saying it couldn't...just saying it hasn't.
Therefore...IMO...it's come to TERM LIMITS.
We TERM LIMIT the POTUS...
We now TERM LIMIT many State Reps...it's past time to enact TERM LIMITS in both houses on the hill.
Nicely done!!
And .. the people who protested Coburn the hardest and loudest are the very same people who are screaming about the deficit and how the repubs are "spending like drunken sailors".
What a joke!
