However, if this is true, it is absolutely outrageous. We already know the architect in this mess absolutely refuses to see how his monument to the terrorists is a problem, and remains strongly committed to his "reconciliation" statement.
This bears watching very, very closely. We should not lose focus on this issue.
Well, they were "embraced by the Crescent!"
Fund raising for this would be a disaster.
The problem with western culture is that it has been so diluted and manipulated by leftists that we do all we can to embrace and adore those that want to kill us.
After the 9/11 attacks, President Bush kept saying Islam is a religion of piece, and we aren't at war with Islam, etc. What if FDR had said after Pearl Harbor that Shinto is a religion of peace, or NAziism a peaceful ideology, and we weren't at war with Shinto or Naziism?
We stand a chance of losing this war until we realize we are at war with radical Islam.
True about the ww2 memorial, and even with that memorial the libs got in their digs when they removed "God" from the speeck enscribed in stone on that memorial.
Now, honey, don't you know that the relion of pieces embraces everyone?
Flight 93 Crescent memorial profanity ALERT!
"Let's Roll!", and get all the big PING lists in FReepdom involved in this one.
Send this mockery of a memorial down in flames - like the plane itself went down!
The WTC "freedom tower" insult died at the hands of Governor Pataki - after he heard from his constituents loudly and clearly.
It is equally important that this reprehensible parade of pseudo-artistic effrontery be exposed and vilified under full glare of the public spotlight.

"The Final Crusade has commenced!"
From the architect's website:
PHILOSOPHY
A primary task of this generation is to create new patterns of development that sustain human habitation on this planet. Towards this end, the principles adopted for our practice are intended to ensure that each project contributes to an overall goal of environmental responsibility while striving for design excellence.
As architects, we are uniquely qualified to help formulate and translate policy into tangible form; mitigating pressures of urbanity with the need to heal the natural environment. Each design solution is seen as a contribution to the human condition; as it exists today and evolves into future generations.
Our goal is to define and study problems both in terms of clients direct needs and relative to long term effects on natural and man made surroundings. More than problem solving however, we aspire to emotionally affect and uplift our lives through poetry and beauty.
It is through these transcendent qualities that we optimistically strive for ways to enrich life and fulfill our original purpose for engaging in the practice of architecture.
maybe its just my cantankerous self, but if a relative of one of the murdered ones were to blow this abonimation up, if i was on the jury, i could not convict him. on a collective level, i am so ashamed at what the forefathers of this nation would think of us if they were here today.
Perhaps buying up land near there and creating an informational center that shows the meaning of the red crescent...or heck, billboards that inform people traveling there what the red crescent means...is the way to go. Visitors would be reminded not to honor the perpetrators, but to really remember who and what they were. That is, turn the whole "red crescent" idea against the architect.
Cantankerous? You and me both. I don't know anyone nor am I related to anyone who was on Flt. 93 and my first thought was to blow it up. I hope I get you on my jury.
Reads like nonsense from the deep ecology cult. I wouldn't hire this firm to design a cupcake.
Actually, we are war with Islam, in its pure and undiluted form (not "radical Islam"). Islam itself is radical. And remember, we are at war with it ONLY because it has declared war on us. Every muslim may not be the enemy, but Islam declared war on all other religions 1,400 years ago.
Anyone that says, "there is no god by Allah" refuses to allow you the freedom to believe otherwise.
Where do I donate?
911 set a number of very unhealthy and unfair precedents and it was all done by spineless PC Pols who would not say NO to any of these outlandish arrangements. This 'Memorial' and the endless BS associated with it is just a continuation of that flawed process IMHO.
How about a granite slab with names?
