Thanks, sistah. Glad you enjoyed it. :-)
Glad to see you back in the saddle with your State presentations. :)
Well, don't get too excited about it, because I am hopping right back out of that saddle. LOL. Not saying this is my last, but it will be quite awhile before I tackle another one. They are taking more and more work. Don't know why they should be getting harder and more time consuming, but they are. Maybe I am just making more work out of them than is necessary. LOL
HUGS!
WELCOME HOME SCUBADAD!!!!Love Grammy
You're welcome. Glad to finally see you here. I figured you had just gotten busy.
About the flu shot, don't you need to have one before you have your surgery? If they are not available, they will still do the surgery, won't they?
I hope we are not going to go through what we did last year. I finally got my flu shot in January.
Well, I'd be flattered if you have. :-)
I'm assuming they will do surgery with or without the flu shot. I was thrilled when I was told they would give the shots today and tomorrow. Two and a half weeks should be enough time for it to become effective. I didn't get a shot last year.
I see the heart guy Friday, I will ask him if he knows anyone who has the vaccine. I may need to start calling to see if I can find a drug store that is giving them. I wonder why they are having problems with the supplies.
Beautiful thread! Well done!
I've enjoyed getting to know him a bit on this thread. I have met some very interesting people today. It's been a fun day, but a really long one. I am about ready to call it quits and go watch some tv.
Hope to see everyone again here tomorrow. We still have a lot of Alaska left to explore. :-)
Thank you so much, tulip. Alaska was one of the most interesting states to research and present. :-)
Greetings form Sitka. Thanks for the wonderful thread.
SMOOOOOOOOOOOCH!!!
I LOVE that graphic. It is silly, like you. LOL!
Is it just my computer, or is FR slow as molasses in Alaska today? :-(
It's extremely slow. Usually it's slow 'before' a 'thon'. Oooops! Slap my fuzzy face. : )
BAD wolfie! (snorf!)
Good night and sweet dreams. I am about ready to call it a day. ((((((((wolfie))))))))
The highlight of my trip to Sitka was St. Michael's Cathedral. :-)
Thanks for the wonderful thread.
You are welcome. Glad you enjoyed it.
Those little ducks look very cold. :-(
The description of the Denali Highway in my reply and its likeness to the Alaska Highway in summer prompts another story.
Okay - it was a family joke that if Mom took a turn driving, there would logically follow An Adventure..:)
Allowed to leave Eielson AFB to head for Myrtle Beach AFB in SC (by way of visiting families in Florida) at 0001 on 1 June 1966, my husband drove until we were not too distant from the Alaska/Canada border. Needing to nap a while, he had me take over, with the two boys, our daughter and dog in the back with him.
Mind you, the last year we were there, we had a Chevy Greenbrier van, with a 70 horsepower engine in the rear. I made curtains for the windows and covered the cushions, and those folded out, making beds. We on the trip down the Rockies until we reached New Mexico, alternated camping out and motels.
All was quiet, and the road ahead without ups and downs until after one reached the Yukon Territory and beyond. Lulled into a false sense of security, the road became very wet from heavy rains within a few miles of the border, and horrified, I saw nothing ahead but a sea of deep MUD!!
With 70 hp, I knew that to stop was to get hopelessly mired, and there was NO civilization nor traffic, perhaps for several hours.
My only recourse was to GUN IT, hunched determinedly over the wheel..:)) The sudden acceleration woke my husband in the back, seeing only waves of mud flying past the windows - LOL. Had to keep that up for a couple of miles until past the (closed) border station, and finally was brought to a drier road.
The next time he let me drive was at about 11:30 p.m.with no traffic at all as we were working our way up and around the top of the Rocky Mountains.
Crew asleep, I later was chugging up on one of those nasty curves with a VERY steep mountain wall on the right of the 2-lane road, and no guard rail on the left with a straight drop down to - oblivion.
Cheering to myself because I was going to make it up and around the blind pinnacle, suddenly I was staring at two headlights coming toward me!
As that was processing in a split second, ANOTHER road grader working in tandem with the first one appeared at the top - - "Help me, Lord" was my brief prayer as I again had to "GUN IT" to the left of No. 1 and squeeze through the ever so slight gap between it and No. 2 - and hoping there was not a car behind them as I shot through.....whew.....adjusted my sunglasses (yes, sunglasses necesry at 0200!) and kept on going...
LadyX has indeed had some fun times..LOL
Yark! Lady you have led a charmed life! Better yet, one overlooked by God!
What a great thread! The moose meets kitty pic was my favorite.
Not the same one. I live fairly close to the college property in the middle of town. Lots of woods and a nice home for moose. They wander the neighborhoods nibbling on all the trees in the winter.
Yes, LUV W, I have been richly blessed, an Appreciator of God's Creations and Love.
Need to go to bed here on the East Coast - good night all.
God give you rest.
The thread is one of the best you've done. I've enjoyed the pictures and the reports from Freepers who live there. That is the nice thing about the "state" threads. They bring new people to the Finest. Of course, Sistah's stories always spice things up. She tends to embellish her tales you know. Mama always said she had a flair for the dramatic.
I'm glad you are running the thread for two days. KET and I will be busy tomorrow, but perhaps I can get back here by evening. It's all very lovely and I tip my hat to you for your talent.
((((hugs))))) Goodnight sweet Lady. See ya next time 'round! Thanks for entertaining us all!
