Bottom of 2nd, 1-0 Astro lead, good game with baserunners and a great tag out at the plate by the Cardinal catcher.
Eckstein picked off.
Out at second!
I'm thinking it just isn't gonna happen for the Stros tonight. They seem very flat, or Carpenter just has them freaked out.
Or maybe all the past history is finally catching up with them.
[At least that was a nice pickoff of Eckstein.]
Card out at 2nd after trying to steal from 1st. 1 out in the 7th, still 2-1 Cards.
Eckstein out at second. Love that Pettite move to first.
The Nats were great fun this summer at the old ballpark on East Capitol. Looking very forward to next year, and I haven't been able to say that for many years.
Yes (if you root for Houston and Pres. Bush!)
Runner safe at 1st, Pettitte being pulled.
I shouldn't say it but I see the Astros scoring off the bullpen once they get Carpenter out - another swat into the Crawfish boxes.
Most of them are walking around like Zombies. Still a lot of game left, though.
Careless mistakes by the defense end Pettitte's night. Nice pitching. He just couldn't finish it in the 3rd after fanning Pujols and Sanders.
Meanwhile MNF still doing that utterly stupid video highlights to a lame rewrite of that Tim McGraw song. Thank goodness that MNF moves from cheesefest ABC next year. Absolutely awful.
The MTVization of the NFL continues to be a mess.
I can't look at ESPN's Chris Berman and Tom Jackson the same since they stabbed Rush in the back.
It would be great if they just did old halftime highlights with Howard Cosell...even if all those guys are long since retired.
Yes, you are right, he actually did pitch pretty good. Unfortunately that may not be enough against Carpenter.
2-1 Cards as we go to the bottom of the 7th.
Any had a solid outing. Many mistakes, but only one that really hurt. Qualls got us out of trouble. If the 'Stros can't score more than 1 in a game this big, then, well, them's the breaks. Getting a win in St. Louis would be tough.
Yes and yes. Wow! I now know Diddle E. Squat!
Now we need Sue Laws to sing "Deep In The Heart Of Texas".
Yeah, the only hitters who even seem to have their wits about them against C-Carp is Biggio and Berkman. Everyone else looks lost.
Turn on one Biggio.
Nuts--I was celebrated the throw away but the ump made the right call.
