Unmarried priests is idiotic, and a blaspheme against the God of the jews, who is the God of Jesus, who is the Lord of Christians. Without marriage by priests, there would not have been a John the Baptizer to proclaim the arrival of the Messiah. I am sorry, but the Catholics are wrong on requiring chastity for Priests and Nuns, it denies the basic humanity of people, and mocks Gods command in Genesis.

So do you support gay marriage for priests?

The chastity thing came relatively late in the church. It's original intent was to keep priests from handing down power/position to offspring.

Unmarried priests is idiotic, and a blaspheme against the God...

Pardon?  Says *you*?  The implications of what you've said here are a bit much to overlook, jeremiah; I'm sorry to be harsh, but:  if you are not Catholic, you can butt right out of the discussion about the vows of our priests and religious.

The Lord has called my brothers and sisters in Faith... in response to that call, they've given a tremendous, beautiful gift of self to Him.   Scoffing at such a measure of unselfishness is disgraceful, and incredibly uncharitable.

Huh?

What's this about John the Baptist? His father was not a married Catholic priest--he was a Jew!

What was the name of John the Baptist's wife? How about Jesus's wife? I guess both of these fellows were a "a blaspheme against the God of the jews."

So, let me see, if you were a young Chinese man, vastly outnumbering all the available females for marriage and the perks thereof, and couldn't find a wife or sex partner, you would naturally start lusting after young men just to get your rocks off? Give me a break, use your brain and quit blaming celibacy for the moral abomination of homosexual rape of teenage boys by Catholic priests

You are fairly ignorant of the Priesthood of Melchisedech, first mentioned in Scripture in Genesis 14, and its relation to the Catholic Priesthood, which includes Jesus Christ, as well as the rest of Scripture which deals with the topic.

I'll bet you've never read the following either, have you "jeremiah"?

"And the word of the Lord came to me, saying: Thou shalt not take thee a wife, neither shalt thou have sons and daughters in this place." Jeremiah 16:1-2
