Meet America's latest big boob. No, it's not one of Anna Nicole Smith's.
His name is Josh Rushing, the Village Voice's fave former Marine Captain. And he's very excited about his latest showbiz role: chief American monkey for Al Jazeera.
When we last saw Rushing, he was out of a job (he was Al-Jazeera's press liaison at Central Command), going on "Nightline," Bill Moyers' "NOW" on PBS, and whatever other liberal media sop would have him and his "somebody give me a job" pronouncements. Ted Koppel gushed over him.
Rushing was looking for a job because he was essentially fired from the U.S. military after his moronic starring role in the Al-Jazeera propaganda fluff film, "Control Room."
Not only is he a bigger boob than Anna Nicole Smith's entire chest combined, Rushing also shares her intellect and the politics of . . . well, Al-Jazeera. Maybe that's why Al-Jazeera just hired Rushing to be it's American propagandist . . . er, correspondent.
His pronouncements in "Control Room" were replete with comparisons of FOX News Channel to Al-Jazeera and wishes to make a career of promoting "the Palestinian issue."

The term "useful idiot" comes to mind...
I don't like dissing someone who put on the uniform, particularly a Marine. His job for the Iraq War was to connect with an ARAB audience and try to address their concerns over the war. Al-Jazeera, which has been banned in several Arab countries for reporting news rather than repeating government propaganda, was one of the Arab groups specifically targetted by our government for such outreach.
If democracy is to take root in Iraq, we need to reach out to the millions of educated, modern Iraqis as much as we've been trying to reach out to the tribes.
I saw part of "Control Room" where the young female Al-Jazeera producer was lamenting "Why couldn't WE be getting rid of our dictators?.." meaning that the Arab world has failed in some critical ways to get on the road toward modernism.
We should be reaching out to these people...
Hang Josh Rushing alongside David Frost the English Judas.
Stupid column, stupid sentiments.
This is exactly the type of activity we should be supporting, as per Bush and Karen Hughes's outreach program.
On the one hand we decry the percieved bias of AJ, an icon of the free press, because we don't like their POV.
Now that Rushing has joined the network, he stands in a position to provide a contrasting to the dominant view held on that station.
After all, we ostensibly believe in freedom of the press and speech.
Considering that ALL the autocratic rulers of the Gulf States hate AJ, isn't that a feather in AJ's cap.
Unless all our rhetoric about freedoms etc for the Arabs is bunk.
Good for Maj Rushing. He has balls to do this.
