Agreed.

France openly states that its #1 foreign policy goal is the reduction of the US military and removal of the US as a superpower.
The heavily french influenced EU and all its dealings is designed to act as a counter weight against the US and obstruct us every step of the way.

Dear EU,
I would be more worried about Russia and China and their goals, than that of the US who time and again has saved your asses. Maybe you should be more concerned with what you gaze towards the east and south, than west. YOu should also be more concerned about what's happening enternally within your own borders.

Love,

As long as we get to keep Zombo.com.

Zombo.com. is a necessity. We should nuke anyone who tries to take it from us.

It's great when backlit by a Lava Lamp.

Bingo! #12 has it. The EU, China, and Brazil can run their own parallel or alternative root network and have all the UN tax and regulation they want. Let the world decide which transport they want to do business on. There's' or the free one managed through the full faith and credit of the people of the United States. Competition is good. More action, less talk.

If the Internet did split, would that mean that we in US would not have access to the news in China, EU, etc?

I'm sure they would let us in for a price.

Excuse me. Didn't we invent it? Didn't we build it? Don't we continually improve it? And now they want it? I think that's called theft.

Of course. And after they get the internet they want our military too, and finally our baseball.

you don't understand what countries like china would do to the internet if they got their hands on it.

Every website would sell porn and viagra.

Viviane Reding, European IT commissioner, says that if a multilateral approach cannot be agreed, countries such as China, Russia, Brazil and some Arab states could start operating their own versions of the internet and the ubiquity that has made it such a success will disappear.

Let them spend the money and create their own Internet and see who uses it. The issue is all about control. The Arab States and China cannot survive with a free exchange of ideas fostered by the Internet. They want to keep the lid on free speech and free thinking by controling the Internet.

I hate to say I am distantly related to Commissioner Reding.

I pick which DNS servers I want to use. /etc/resolv.conf....

Yes, but without the root servers, that will do you no good at all. Your name servers have a list of these servers in db.cache, or something similar.

US made the Internet, paid by the taxpayers money. There is no justification for EU to make a free ride. In other words, this is like a thieve stealing from another for the invention. If they don't like it, tell them to get out and build its own. Any violations of copyright owned by the government should be countered with heavy sanctions.
