Thank you:)
My grandmother was a nurse. She went overseas to France in World War One and cared for countless wounded soldiers. She explained to me when I was a young woman during Viet Nam that I could be a "better citizen" by being a friend to a soldier. She encouraged me to write letters to the guys I knew who were in Nam...said it didn't matter what I wrote about- baseball, movies..anything. By following her direction I made friends for life..
I wonder if there are grandmothers like that now? Imagine trying to teach your grandchild about a quaint notion..."citizenship". Our soldiers don't need the lessons- but we have much to learn from them.

I am proud to say that my mother....(Grandmother to my niece and nephews.)
She is that kind of person... She is a first generation American from Irish parents, but she made sure that all her children realized that we were American first and proud of it... she was part of the reason I decided to serve..she instilled such a sense of civic pride in me that i felt that I owed my country at least 4 years of service, and I did proudly.
She has instilled that civic pride in her grandchildren too... (much to my liberal sister-in-laws dismay)
So there are still some of those Grandmothers out there for sure....
So glad I am related to one! :)
God Bless you and you family will continue to pray for their continued safety.
