Thank you to you and all the other family members out here that have loved ones currently serving. I appreciate the sacrifice that both the families make and the soldiers themselves...


You all have every right to be proud.

My grandmother was a nurse. She went overseas to France in World War One and cared for countless wounded soldiers. She explained to me when I was a young woman during Viet Nam that I could be a "better citizen" by being a friend to a soldier. She encouraged me to write letters to the guys I knew who were in Nam...said it didn't matter what I wrote about- baseball, movies..anything. By following her direction I made friends for life..

I wonder if there are grandmothers like that now? Imagine trying to teach your grandchild about a quaint notion..."citizenship". Our soldiers don't need the lessons- but we have much to learn from them.
