My next-door neighbor is from Egypt, refugee Catholic, he says; mows the lawn (now and then), never wears shoes except to go to work.

Every rime I see him outside, the first thing I do is count his toes.

Buy the kids a poncho and a pair of boots. I'm an Assistant Scoutmaster in the Boy Scouts. I tell the parents that program runs rain or shine. We've had camps where it rained for 3 straight days. They play outside, work outside, cook their meals outside, swim and boat (as long as there's no lightning), etc. They can get under the tarp, and put dry clothes on when they go to bed. Nobody melts.

My son had a woman principal in the 6th grade and they couldn't even play with balls. The only thing they could do on the playground was talk. Then they wondered why these kids with boundless energy couldn't be still in class. For my son, that was 8 1/2 hours with no physical activity and they wonder why kids are fat.

Dodgeball was great. Our teachers used to play too and Mr. Keith didn't take any prisoners! Today, he would be fired for sure. LOL! Oh the good ol' days. I am assuming red rover and smear the queer have long been banished. BTW, I am sure the fall injuries getting worse is largely due to the lack of exercise and the higher number of kids being tubby.
