Most of the "knowledge" obtained in this comes from "off the record" reports from law enforcement officials. They speak of the reports of Hinrichs visiting the mosque, and that's what they base the whole editorial on conveniently forgetting all other facts in this case. The OK Daily needs to take their heads out of the sand, IMHO. Even an objective review of the facts leads away from the "official story". Especially in light of the incident at Georgia Tech today. Saying these are "hack" journalists stretches it pretty far...

Ping for another OU editorial. Be careful when coming to this thread the spin is tremendous!

''So who is lying?''

Du-u-u-h-h-h... a real journalist would find out. Is the Gaylord School full of idiots, or what?

Just ask Jayna Davis about her FBI experiences, or read her book "The Third Terrorist".

The FBI are suppose to work for US, but it always seems they are in the middle of a cover-up of some sort.

So... the FBI needs to come clean and announce to the world once and for all that this was just a simple suicide, and set the record straight, so that raving loons bent on spreading rumors and lies that Hinrichs was anything more than a depressed student can be properly silenced.

Ha ha. Too funny. Tell the OK Daily their attempts at spin are as transparent and pathetic as Boren's. This ain't 1995.

everyone we have contacted at the mosque says Hinrichs was never seen there

Why are Muslims at the mosque believed, but eyewitnesses to the event are not? Why are their accounts taken to be the truth, while anything that contradicts those accounts is discounted as rumor?

Who is lying, you ask, OK Daily? I will tell you. The people at the mosque who you sought out to give you the answers you wanted to hear and print. They are the ones who are lying. And you know that they are. And you are lying as well.

Liars, both of you. You know it, and we know it, so you're just wasting your time trying to convince us otherwise. By printing this offensive editorial, you have drawn a line in the sand, you have thrown down the gauntlet. But we are not afraid. We laugh... while you tremble in fear of the truth.

That's a Boren directive if I ever read one. The media believes off the record police reporting -- I would too.
He has done that before with the OU Daily -- used it to get out his spin.

Are people going to believe off the record law enforcement or Boren. I say off the record as most people on campus know Boren as used the OU Daily in the past.

Seems to me they basically confirmed the report of the mosque by saying off the record law enforcement is saying ...

Anything coming out of OU right now needs parsed. You will usually pick up a few facts in all the media articles buried in with spin, spin, spin.

"For example, unsubstantiated claims that Hinrichs had been frequenting the Norman mosque have managed to seep onto television news broadcasts even though everyone we have contacted at the mosque says Hinrichs was never seen there.

So who is lying? Inherently, people should perceive the unfounded news broadcasts as the liars, but that doesn’t always happen. And even if only one person sees and believes such a report there or online, word of mouth can transmit that “truth” to hundreds or thousands within a matter of days."

In other words, reputable news organizations that have reported news these guys don't like are to be disbelieved and branded as liars in deference to people whose interests are at stake if THEY'RE lying. The last sentence tells me this editorial was written by someone who has much different priorities than freedom of the press. ("Here's your editorial. Sign it and publish it.")

Also check out the use of the words "lying" and "liars". This editorial was not written by a journalist. This editorial was written by someone who's almost hysterically denying something.

It's hard for me to have confidence in the FBI. When they were in charge of the Unabomber investigation, they were reluctant for years to release any information, believing it would be best to keep everything a secret. It was only the publication of the "manifesto" that made Ted Kaczynski's brother suspicious, and gave the FBI their big break.

Despite the reassuring statments from the O.U. president, the explosion on Saturday is suspicious on face-value. Lots of college students commit suicide, but they do so by hanging, jumping, overdose, or occasionally with firearms. And they often leave suicide notes, or similar pre-suicide threats. I wonder if we could find even one previous instance where a student killed himself by strapping on a large home-made explosive charge.

The O.U. explosion was on a Saturday, during a sold-out football game, about 100 yds from the stadium. The most reasonable conclusion is that the bomber intended to enter the stadium. Perhaps he had already approached the stadium, but was deterred by the searches at the entry gates. He may have walked to the bench to consider his next move, such as reconfiguring his bomb to foil a search, or waiting until the game was over and the crowds were exiting.

Whatever happened, we were lucky the bomb cooked off while Hinrichs was on that bench.

I believe the O.U. president's statements about as much as I believe that WWII Kamikaze attacks were conducted by depressed Japanese pilots who just wanted to kill themselves.

All this stinks to high heaven.

Maybe these things have been addressed elsewhere,(still trying to catch up on all the threads) but I still find it odd the off duty policeman just happens to be in the store when he is attempting to buy ammonium nitrate. I find it odd that after he blows himself up, the cops very quickly find his Pakistani roommate, not at home, but at a party. How did they find him so quickly? Why take him and his buddies out in handcuffs simply because his roommate kills himself?

In other words, I think these guys were being tailed for a while.

They NEVER use names, it's called deniability and Isolation!) {background..."Mohammed, whick wire goes to the detonator again? SILENCE...INFIDEL on the Phone!}"!

Nope...no connection here...because THE ISLAMAZIS SAID SO?!?!

Hey, Mainstream MORON Media...ever heard the term Al Taqiyya?!?!

Research...facts...it does a body GOOD!
