Robert Reich (puny in both mind and body) is drumming the DNC talking points about this Administration being nothing but cronyism, incompetence and sleaze, bad economy, Iraq, blah blah. George Will, whose performance on Miers has been less than stellar, at least says essentially, what the he!! are you talking about. The economy is fabulous. The dems just do what they do, keep repeating the lie and some will buy it.

I think that it is highly likely that we would win. Let's just take Luttig as the nominee. Of the names that you listed, I don't see any of them voting against Luttig. Perhaps Chaffee.

Better to have fought and lost than never fought at all. This is a fight that the Democrats have decreed we will have to have sooner or later. Just like the terrorists declared war on us, there is no avoiding this fight. The best we can do is to pick a time and place where we best defend our cause. We have to take the fight to them not wait for them to do the choosing and in the meantime let them have their way.

What President Bush is doing is giving in without a fight in order to not be seen as having lost. As a consequence, those of us who believe in a Supreme Court that strictly construes the Constitution have lost dearly.

"But where have Maxwell Wilson Smart and Agent 99 Plame been? "

Not just those two, but also Cooper. All have been very quiet. And the NYT hasn't been exactly forthcoming with what they know.

This late in the game, the chances of a target or potential target going in front of the GJ are slim. Their attorneys don't want, nor does the Prosecutor want them to testify to something that can be used against them at trial.

You think Roberts hearings were scripted?

Go sit down in the back of the room. I don't have time for silly comments like that.

You forget that the caterwalling is also coming from Senators in his own party. I doubt Bush is yucking it up when knowing that his own party, which has its share of spineless RINOs, might weaken him by not supporting Miers.

Well will just have to wait for the hearings.

JMO, she'll make it through with flying colors, despite the grandstanding of self absorbed Senators, left and right.

Treat of a post.

Has he ever shot a rifle for the US military? He seems like such a chicken hawk.

Well, the dems were scripted. LOL. Pretty much all they could do was read from them. They didn't do that terribly well either.

Oh, and Miers is publically pro-Second Amendment.

Driving a wedge? The Country has been insulted by a President who tells them to "TRUST ME". This in itself is insanity. Bush picked a fight with the Conservatives instead of the liberals.

Your blind trust in Bush is disturbing to me.

You mean media pundits have more credibility than the President and the legal community scholars?

You know, before you decide to send someone like Luttig up there to be defeated, just so you can have a battle, perhaps you had better ask Luttig if he volunteers to be the sacrificial lamb.

It's not very much fun for a judge to be known forever after as a "rejected Supreme Court nominee." Ask Judge Bork.

Well if it makes you feel any better, I totally agree with you.

The woman would only be one out of nine for God's sake. Get a grip. Bush made the coup with Roberts. All the rest shall fall smarly into place.

One other thing, which I mentioned on my Blog, one of the finest in the Blogosphere, insert wink here. But soon there will be showing on TV screens across the planet earth....tada...the trial of Saddam.

This trial will be very important. The entire world will hear from victims and survivors how he was so cruel, how he poisoned an entire town. It will capture the total attention of the planet.

Do we really need to give those Dems a chance to carp and carry on like the children they are while this trial is going on? It will only distract from this one world wide event that will expose the UN, the myth about missing weapons of Mass destruction (sarin gas IS a weapon of mass destruction), the cruelty and craziness of Saddam.

This is my story and I'm sticking to it.

What the hell is social stratification?

Ken Starr also gave a very enthusiastic endorsement to Souter.

"Bush makes a terrible choice...."

I don't understand. It's obvious to me that those making this accusation know nothing at all about Miers, so what are the dissentors apprehensions about her exactly??

So far I have seen not ONE; zilch, nada, nyect reason for this to be "a bad choice" given except that Souter was GHW Bush and Kennedy was Reagan's.

No, he has not. He is very fond of using the military, but only with those Red state non-intellectuals...you, know, like Harriet Miers' relatives and such.

Oh, and my favorite quote about him is from Bob Tyrell of The American Spectator:

"Bill Kristol is the kind of guy who likes to sit in his study with a brandy, wearing a smoking jacket...even though he doesn't smoke."

Your blind trust in Bush is disturbing to me.

It is foolish to pick a nominee that will not get confirmed. We have too many people in the Senate that like their CBS face time. If they vote to confirm a Luttig, or a JRB, the MSM stops calling. Sorry, its a fight we wont win. So, what are you going to do now, because you didnt get your way? Vote for Hillary? Or Third Party?

No fool like an old fool, I guess (George Will)

I think he is a conservative in the mold of Tucker Carlson. Able to give up talking points on cue, on a liberal show, but not serious enough in his heart to have ever in the history of the Brinkley/Sam whatsisname/Cokie Roberts show turn to any of them and say:

Let me finish my point!

He has always been a weak sister to me, but he was a known quantity, labeled as 'conservative' during all the dem-dominated three-network years.

I hope you are right. The hearings are going to be huge and she needs to hold her own and quash the concern over her constitutional intellect. If she does well, the GOP Senators need to support their President, period.

Chrystal wants her to step aside so he doesn't get proven wrong again and again and again in the hearings. He is a self appointed Conservative god.

Pray for W and Harriet Miers

"I know something more disturbing," to do a take off from Willie Wanka.

Hint:  Bush picked a fight with the Conservatives instead of the liberals.
