Seeing Creation and Evolution in Grand Canyon (quote below is the most significant item)
New York Times ^ | October 6, 2005 | JODI WILGOREN

GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, Ariz. - --snip -- The twin rafting trips epitomize the parallel universes often inhabited by Americans with polarized positions. Members of both groups said they had signed up for these charters to be surrounded by like-minded people. Indeed, all the American adults on Mr. Vail's boats voted for President Bush last fall, while all but two on the evolutionists' rafts cast ballots for Senator John Kerry.

This is more a political point than a comment on evolution/creationism. Sadly, the observatiion of the political polarization probably accurately reflects the general electorate.

What is sad those who claim the Bible dates this earth. The Bible does not state the age of the earth, and speaks to three different heaven/earth ages, and says this earth is very very very old.

Leave it to the NYT to try to falsely portray the evo/creationist debate as a liberal/conservative debate. A simple look at the evolution debates right here on FR demonstrate that there's only a tiny handful (probably trolls) who take an ignorant head in the sand anti-science stand while a simple click on a typical creationist site reveals their radical left wing opinion of Darwin's Influence on Ruthless Laissez Faire Capitalism

Well said. The debate tactics of creationists reminds me of the slogan of the Clinton administration: "Admit nothing, deny everything and make counter-accusations."

This struck me as typical NYT "fact" finding. The author is projecting his feelings onto the subject, creating the evidence to reach his desired conclusion.

Hmmmm, oh there was 'time' in creation, we in the flesh have not figured out yet how to accurately measure it.
