Jewel of the Magdalenian period

A necklace and pendants made 15,500 years ago have been discovered in the Praile I cave; it is the most important Upper Paleolithic find in the Basque Country in recent years

Mikel Lizarralde – DONOSTIA (San Sebastian)

A Magdalenian treasure of the Upper Paleolithic has lain hidden for the last 15,500 years in the Praile I cave in Deba (Gipuzkoa). Excavations done over the last few years by a team led by the archaeologist Xabier Peñalver of the Aranzadi Society of Sciences have uncovered spectacular jewellery. Four stunning necklaces of smooth black stone, another one of goats’ teeth and a 12-cm pendant made by Cro-Magnon man have been discovered in the cave. There are 29 items in all, each one made by hand and engraved.

The find in the Praile I cave is not only the most important in the Basque Country in recent years, but also one of the most significant ones in the European continent as far as the Upper Paleolithic period is concerned. The Praile I cave was discovered in 1983 by Mikel Sasieta and Juan Arruabarrena, members of the Munibe group of Azkoitia (Gipuzkoa), and is one of the Paleolithic’s most significant archeological clusters.

I wonder how it was determined to have been made by Cro-Magnon Man?

Must have been buried with a Basque Country Savings and Loan desk calendar and hanging towel calendar set from 13,500 B.C.

As I remember, there is little evidence of Neanderthal jewelry.

Hey, I've seen those. They had cutesy paintings of everyday life by Cromagnon Rockwell.

An 80,000 year old 'well-worn' necklace was found with the Hobbits.

The goat tooth necklace was found in the posterior region of a male Neanderthal skeleton.

No ping. Blam prefers not to have his threads ripped up by the endless crevo wars, so unless he starts up a thread that I can't resist, I don't ping my list to his stuff.

Most people seem to have accepted rat propaganda and think that our ancestors were the same as they are. There is nothing in the record as far as I can see that makes us much different from our ancestors other than information available.

The modern age is due to the dissemination of information of information, printing for example. The Cro Magnons had an artistic style that was not equaled until the Greeks, and they had buttons that were not rediscovered until modern times.

Blam, I did a google for "human evolution science running" and came up with quite a bit of interesting information about my theory that long distance running was a key if not THE key in the evolution of humans from other primates preceding and leading towards brain enlargement and technology. Take a look if you get a chance.

Good question. The Neanderthals were around at this time and they made jewelry as well. But then the Neanderthals making elaborate ornaments would not fit into the the template.

Isn't the preceeding sentence end with dangling participle?
If so, Dangling Participle Alert.

Now to it...what will you bet? More importantly, what other "finds" are a hoax, in your professional opinion?

Do a google search on "fake archaeological items".
There are thousand if not millions of them.

There are to many for me to even bother listing.

There are actually cases of archaeologists using super glue to glue things on prehistoric animals to try and create a new find.
