MS IT has put a stop to rogue-use servers and anyone caught doing it is going to be looking for a new job.

Something Novell should have done as well. This will be their price.

a dumbass Novell IT employee or two setting up games on company test servers outside a firewall and getting hacked because they had to open the server ports up for gaming - or didn't know how to secure the server correctly - isn't the slightest bit newsworthy.

Sure it is, it shows they don't have a handle on their resources to the same level as their competitors, who you already mentioned.
