Will a 21-bomb salute on terrorist safe houses in Iraq suffice as an appropriate recognition?

It is the month in which Muslims abstain from food, drink and other sensual pleasuresClarification: it is the month in which they abstain from these during daylight hours. After sunset they party and feast all night long!

If it results in Hillary having to wear a Burka from head to toe, I am all for it.

Will Congress also pass equally worded resolutions recognizing "Rosh Hashanah" and "Yom Kippur" ... ?

"But just as we don't expect the Jews to recognize Jesus as Christians do, I see no reason to expect Muslims to do that."
I don't give a rat's behind that Muslims don't recognize Jesus. What I do care about is the fact that so many Christians and Jews suffer at the hands of Muslims today. Muslims need to first clean up their act and rid their religion of the militants, and hold those responsible for violent acts against non Muslims. Then come back and talk to me about recognizing Ramadan.

"What about the separation of church and state?"
Come one now, you know better than that. It's Christianity and state. Not all religions.

CAIR said it is asking mosques and Islamic centers nationwide to host a "Sharing Ramadan" Iftar, or fast-breaking meal, to enhance understanding of Islam and to encourage Americans of all faiths meet their Muslims neighbors.
It's Happy Hour at the neigborhood mosque, folks! Sheep's eyes for everyone! Come on out and sign up your teenage son for an enlightening cross-cultural Camp Jihadi experience "somewhere in Pakistan".....

Sounds good. Call it "National Range Day". Everyone gets the day off for target practice.

"Ramadan is expected to begin on October 4 or 5 this year, depending on the sighting of the new moon. "
Wait... but if we destroy the Moon, does that mean there will be no ramadans?

wonder if they would be willing to propose a resolution among their religious leaders recognizing the Christian celebration of Christmas. Their recognition and acknowledgment of the birth of Christ, the Son of God, would go a long way in patching the divide in the mutual understanding of the two religions You know the answer to this. The Muslim religion was developed (reveiled) last to mankind. (This must really irk the Mormons.) Therefore, with regard to Judaism and Christianity, Islam is the religion to become, either by enlightenment or by the sword.
If Islam dropped this concept, and morphed into a religion that could live along with the other world's religions, AND IF THIS WAS STATED IN EVERY MOSQUE, then I could get behind a statement recognizing a High Holy period, and yes, I would expect the same for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kipur.

heh, at California State University Northridge, officials long ago banned Hillel, the Newman Club and other religious groups from meeting as a conflict between church and state. But every fall the bleating of the goats horn can be heard from campus as thousands celebrate Ramadan on the main quad in front of the Oviatt Library.

Well, heck, why don't we just go on ahead and recognize the END of it too? (And I think you know what I mean.)
