No matter how much rationalization and excuse-making you engage in, you can not get around the fact that Republicans were more fiscally conservative when Clinton was in the White House than when Bush is. When he starts making an attempt to hold Congress to account for its freespending ways, then I could begin to believe that he's serious about wanting to be seen as fiscally conservative. Until then, or until there are some actual results beyond showy proposals, there's no reason to believe this is anything other than smoke and mirrors. Instant gratification has nothing to do with my position, no matter how desperately you want it to.
