Keep up the good work, soldier - and know that you are respected, supported, and esteemed by us here on the home front. We are grateful for your service, and we know that it is a sacrifice for each of you!

Here's the three very nice young men from CU, in Boulder, Co. They are journalism majors and are working on a student run show "On The Inside".We were very impressed with them. They had great questions and you'll notice, they were quite interested in what they were hearing. I'm sure it was quite a contrast to what they had heard from other interviews today!

These three guys really stood out. (I think they're on OUR side)

Initially, Ruth did not want to be on camera. Jenny and I convinced her to say a few words, and once she started, it just flowed. She is an awesome lady and is very proud of her son,Joseph, who was called to active duty and served one year in Iraq with the Wyoming National Guard.

Here is a closeup of the crowd. Notice there isn't one American flag to be seen anywhere!

I can never see too many pictures of FREEPERS and the added bonus is that my daughter lives in the Denver area.

THANKS FOR YOUR EFFORTS ON BEHALF OF THE TROOPS.

Thank you.

Where can I get one of those UN hankies? Do they sell toilet tissue?

at the rally in March in Denver I made up two toilet paper tubes of UN toilet paper, and later I hemstitched a very large hankie.

When I was being interviewed by the guys from CU I blew my nose very loudly into it.

I purchased the UN flags at our Boulder Army Navy store.

A few comments and observations of my own after reading Jenny's and Jan's. I did enjoy my self.
Some of the things I noticed were both sad and humorous to me.
The military guy who kept saying he had spent 10 years in the service did leave rather abruptly after I caught his eye, smiled and said, "Honorably I presume".
One woman spent about 10 minutes talking about this and that and how she knew what was right since she had lived abroad. What she really wanted to do was convince me the whole concept of American democracy is wrong. Her idea of a great country is Sweden. Then she lit into the capitalists when I let her know my unflattering opinion of Sweden and socialism. when I let her know I was all for capitalism she decided I was a real nut case and left. The sad/humorous part of it was they don't know the issues, they just keep spewing out rhetoric from someone else and the longer they talk the more they contradict themselves.
Some people did want to exchange ideas but most of the people wanted to make you agree with their point of view and it seemed most of them were there just to bash Bush. As Jan said, when someone said "Well I support the troops" I'd tell them not according to my son who served over there. Those serving over there think you either support them and their efforts to better the lives of the Iraqis or you are under mining their efforts. He actually called them back stabbers. I love it when I can say "according to my son who served over there". People cannot argue with that. I have also had two nephews who served in Iraq. In fact my son and a nephew were over there at the same time. My son and the other nephew also served in Desert Shield.
One woman had her kids standing down by the street with a couple of signs that said THERE IS NO REASON FOR WAR, when we were leaving she tried to stand in my way. I looked her straight in the eye and said, "But my dear, just think,if we had not had the war called the American Revolution you would be speaking with a British accent right now. Her mouth dropped open and she moved out of my way. A fun way to spend some time.

You go, girls! ROFL! Give me a buzz and I'll join you next time for the fun. I especially want to blow my nose in a UN flag hankie.

Ruth,
I'm laughing out loud.

The sad thing to me was that I was so consumed with talking to the people I talked with, I could not hear what you were saying to those you chatted with. Liberals are loud!

I'm glad you joined. It will be fun to chat with you in this forum....and at church!

Love, Jenny

Did you get a picture of that??? I could tell the cameraman from CU was cracking up laughing when I did it. I hope they use it in their report.

jan,

I got this email from the students from CU the other day...

Jenny,

We did use part of your interview for our show this week. You will be able to
see it on Tuesday at 12:30 or 6:30. I don't know if you get the channel we
broadcast on. It only goes around Boulder, but if you do, you can see the show
on channel 63. Or you should be able to watch it online at either 12:30 or
6:30. I gave he web address below. Just click on "watch our show" and you
will be directed to the right place.

Thank you again for speaking with us.

Let us know what you think of the story.

Thomas

And they posted a print version of the story on their web site here

http://www.colorado.edu/StudentGroups/inside/Stories/Protest.htm

I had a little quote in the story...

On the outskirts of the protest were these people who demonstrated their support for the president. Among them is Jenny Hatch.

Holding up a index finger covered in black ink Hatch said, “I inked up my finger here because I’m in solidarity with the Iraqi people. It’s a symbol of their freedom. And I just feel passionate that they need to be supported. These people might not realize it, but what they are doing emboldens the terrorist who are in Iraq and I believe they personally have Iraqi blood and American soldiers blood on their hands. ”

Although the protest was peaceful, tempers did flare at times when views collided. Police were quick to respond and one man was strongly encouraged to leave.

This protest was one of several, including a large demonstration at the capital building in Washington DC.

This story was reported by Nick Lockwood.

My apoligies Jan, but I forgot to email you about the show, and I forgot to even watch it myself.

I'm going to email the guys and ask if they have the tape hosted anywhere. Sounds like they don't but I'll let you know what they say.

Jenny

Ruth!!!! Welcome to Free Republic. You too Pat!

Here is the woman (I believe her name is Laurel), who would like America to be like Sweden. I spent 15 minutes talking to her before Ruth did, and she brought up some negative information about President Bush's Great-grandfather, like that has anything to do with President Bush.

Ruth defending the greatest Country in the world...AMERICA!

Ruth said...
The sad/humorous part of it was they don't know the issues, they just keep spewing out rhetoric from someone else and the longer they talk the more they contradict themselves.

I too was amazed at how little these people know about the issues. I guess it shouldn't surprise us...how else could they possibly be against the Freedom of the Iraqi's, unless they really are just ignorant about what their lives were really like?

I talked to dozens of people at the "peace" protest, and not one knew about the purple finger. How sad.

So, after spending a few hours with all these people protesting Freedom for Iraqi's and reading all their signs,I thought this might be a great time to remind ourselves what the Iraqi's think of the United States being in Iraq.

There are MANY more pictures like this, but the MSM will NEVER show them.
