If we get the storm surge on the east side, many (Brays, Buffalo, Sims, White Oak, Greens, etc) will have nowhere to drain so flooding from rains will be worsened.
All the low areas that have flood tendency in Houston will certainly be at risk...any place on the 100 year flood areas need to expect to flood, I think...
I heard on the nbews last night that Mayor White is weighing if there should be mandatory evacuations for partsof Houston proper.
I am right by Armand Bayou and ten minutes from the lake. I am not happy right now. We are leaving tonight, and I really don't want to.
Thanks for the Houston pings Flyer - I appreciate it. Getting a little nervous here in Spring Branch. Allison didn't flood us, but it came too close for comfort. We have flood insurance now, though. Stay safe!!
That's what was so scary about Allison. Usually, everything is running off and draining into the Gulf. With Allison, there was so much water that the Gulf was coming up into Galveston Bay and the Bay was coming up the bayous. It was very weird to see water flowing upstream.
The San Bernard, also, was salt water very far upstream.
Thanks for the pings this morning. We will be leaving for SA today.
I did hear that last night.
Do we want to start a check-in thread for Texas coast Freepers?
