Since President Bush has now cited Tropical Storm (soon to be Hurricane) Rita as a reason why citizens of New Orleans should not be allowed back into the city yet and...
Since loony libs think Bush and Karl Rove have some sort of weather machine that steered Hurricane Katrina into Louisiana to kill all the black people...
Shouldn't we test this theory? If Rita hits Louisiana, it means Bush and Rove can control the weather and steered another hurricane into Louisiana to kill the rest of the black people.
But if Rita hits somewhere else, then either Bush and Rove thought they could kill more black people by slamming a hurricane into Houston or Bush and Rove cannot control the weather.
Then again, if the purpose of hurricanes is to kill black people, shouldn't Bush be saying that blacks are *welcome* back into New Orleans ahead of Rita but the white people should stay out?
Actually the link goes to the most recent update, for example it's now showing the 11 PM EDT update.
Accuweather has it going to essentially the same place, and they were one of the first to correctly forecast that Katrina would either hit New Orleans, or worse hit just east of it. They were also the first to call that last minute eastward jog.
They are showing the uncertainty footprint a little farther south than the NHC, only to about Lake Charles rather than the Lake Pontchartrain outlet. The southern end of the region appears to be about the same, or maybe just a schosh farther south of Matamoros, Mexico than the NHC's zone.
If Rita follows that forecast path, it will affect even more oil platforms than Katrina did, a whole lot more. It will be even worse if the track is slightly north of the forecast, for the oil platforms, if not for Galveston and Houston, which on the current predicted track are in the position of Biloxi and Gulf Port, which decidedly not a good place to be.
Bush and Rove now want to kill their fellow Texans. We're doomed I tell you!
I thought they both were from Texas!??!
It still might. But at this time of year, it would mostly trash Brown people, and would leave the college students alone. OTOH, if it's hits Houston, it takes another crack the Sin City residents, and there plenty of college students. (Rice, U of Houston, several others) in the area as well, including The Sea Aggies right on the water of Pelican Island at Galveston)
Rita best be careful of attacking Aggies though. They've been known to take all sorts of drastic measures at the smallest provocation.
Yeah, true. Ask the Marching Owl Band or the goalpost guys at Texas Tech. And wouldn't there be hell to pay if Rita marched onto Kyle Field. Aggies can be an ornery bunch - especially when their football team loses.
Ever hear of Alicia? Wiped out my sister in Clear Lake City back in the 80's.
Yes, I am speaking of all of the growth SINCE Hurricane Alicia.
It is unbelievable how much development has occurred in areas which WILL flood -- that's my point.
Bush and Karl Rove have some sort of weather machine that steered Hurricane Katrina into Louisiana to kill all the black people
Is taht why the President is now feeding, clothing and housing them? People who make these ignorant statements should listen to how stupid they sound when they say it.
Check under "topics". This is a humor thread.
Of course, such talk is ignorant. That's why we are poking fun at it.
How's married life?
Shouldn't bother a frog!!
heh!
Y'all gonna ride Rita out?
If it hits Cat 5 Thursday night we will probably bug out to a preselected site. If not then no.
Howsa bout you?
I'll be in Sugar Land regardless of what Rita does.
(... and I'm kinda looking forward to meeting some looters...)
I suppose I'll stay put until things fall apart, then fall back to the Elgin place.
If I had pets or family my attitude might be different.
If it gets to looking like we are going to get whacked, I'll
have to sandbag Mom's back patio and possibly take possession
of the psycho cats while she quarters to the North before I fall back.
Still watching the progress.
Okay. No problem. Your humor must be drier than mine which would be quite a feat since I've had deodorant companies competing for the formula to my humor because it is so dry.
Two words of advice.
1) Be careful finding shelter. The Katrina gang has used up a lot of our available space this way (Central Texas).
2) Avoid the rush and buy a gas-powered chainsaw. You'll be glad you did once you see the partially downed limbs that will be in the yards and no electricity.
If pressed, I could house up to two FReepers for an overnighter if you don't mind sleeping with my parrot (no smokers or law-breaking liberaltarians please). My apartment has a sofa that folds out into a queen bed.
Sorta hard to tell yet . . . haven't spent more than an hour alone with the hubby since the ceremony! Work is in overload mode - retreat this weekend, convention this weekend, hurricane this weekend . . . and on top of all that, dress rehearsal this weekend.
