Actually, he's NOT a "reformed leftie." He's still very much an avowed socialist, and still has great hatred for Kissenger, as well as Mother Teresa.
However, he despises Clinton for the lies he told (and wrote a book about it, "No One Left to Lie To"), and he realizes that the left is completely wrong about the threat that radical islamist pose to society. He voted for and supports President Bush in the war, simply as a matter of survival. Other than the war, he actually shares very few ideals with President Bush, and it's not something that he hides.
But the fact is that Hitchens is a man of principal, one who decided that because his views were wrong, they needed to be reviewed and then abandoned. It cost him dearly: Many of his former "friends" won't even talk to him anymore, and it's cost him financially, having lost the "golden boy" title of the left.

"Section. 3.
Clause 1: Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."
That is a very good question.
I agree that Galloway is evil and probably in the same way as Saddam & Stalin were evil (similarities: the rise in the ranks from a low origin, the self glorification, an inner moral vacuum that admirers and purses dictatorial power on the world stage). In Galloway's mind there are only winners and losers and the strength of a country is never found in institutions or laws but, rather, issues from the absolute brutality of its leaders. Galloway would be a great Mafia Don or a Genghis Khan. The man is bound up in his admiration for thugs and whole sale slaughter. The greater the killings and mass murder, the more worthy and deserving of respect are the dictators who dish out this death. Hitch was really wasting his time with Galloway, except for making a moral point in having the courage to face him, present some facts to the audience, and find a venue to sell his books.
Did anyone tape this? I'd love a video copy!
Ever heard any of Maxine Water's rhetoric? There are hate-filled morons everywhere, and these types are whom they elect to be their faithful voice.
Unfortunately, Galloway has such a "cute" accent that it makes it hard for some people to take his nastiness seriously.
I wonder if Germans thought Hitler had a "cute" Austrian accent.
Do cute accents make it possible for people to overlook nasty rhetoric?
I noticed that Amy Goodman, the hostess for the debate, asked Hitchens pointed questions near the end of the debate. She didn't do the same thing to Galloway.
"Galloway is an unrepentant Stalinist who supports Islamofascists. The same ones that were inspired by Saddam Hussein's uncle and his Baath henchmen via the sponsorship of the Third Reich in WWII. Thus, in Galloway you have the lodestone between Nazi and Communist, which only broke apart after Hitler invaded Russia. Other than that, their politics are well suited to terror."
You took the words out of my mouth. I'd only add that Galloway is a criminal who ought to be taken off the street.
(By the way--you've got to be one of the first Freepers!)
BTTT
. ...and after his personal insults to me when I had asked him some questions of my own
Two things I noticed about Galloway during the Medved interview
