Let me requote AH, "I am in control here."

God bless, Mr. Vice President

Been there done that last October. Popteal aneurysm repair takes a saphenous vein from the other thigh and grafts it into the site where the aneurysm is removed. Providing the vein is healthy enough...otherwise a W.L. Gore product (synthetic) is used.
A little on the tricky side as there is a "capsule" with nerve, tendon, as well as vascular tissue that must be dealt with.
Was up and walking on it (gently) the next day. Two to four hour procedure took 6 for mine. Usually a congenital condition and will be mirrored on the other leg. Mine was the result of installing carpeting for too long, so only had the one.
Unfortunately, the docs discovered I also suffered from excessive insurance and kept me in the hospital for 9 days. Only did 3 days for triple bypass on the ol' heart.

The Vice President has been to so many doctors' offices that I bet he can identify the tribe of naked Pygmies in National Geographic by the color of the plate in their lips. What a trooper.

By the Senate AND the House. They get both houses involved in the "confirmation" of the veep.

If not, no one. The position is purely cermonial unless the president should die in which case if the VP was not able to take the reins of power, it would go to Denny Hastert as Speaker of the House, then the Speaker Pro Temore of the Senate (Sen from Alaska). Back during the Florida recount in 2000, one of the senarios people talked about was for Strom Thurmond (Speaker Pro Temore of the Senate) to become president temporarily in case the presidential election had not been decided prior to January 20.

Curious....who is V.P. while he is under?Sounds like something they'll do with local or epidural anesthesia.

"...otherwise a W.L. Gore product (synthetic) is used. For the sake of the VP and here on in, we should now refer to it as the:
"W product."
I think Dick Cheney would agree. L with Gore, ditch it.

It's my understanding that the Speaker of the House is next in line if both the President and VP are incapacitated.
I don't think the VP has the authority to transfer power.
(I admit....this could be wrong)

I'm sorry to read this, I know the Vice President has the finest vascular surgeons that humanity possesses.
Prayers lifted for a safe surgery and speedy recovery for our Honorable Vice President.

Thanks for the info I suppose this is connected to the annual physical he had when they discovered problems behind the knee. Wonder why though he did not have this done during the summer or did it suddenly flare up worse so they decided to do something
Prayers for him and his family that he will make a speedy recovery.
Does anyone know how long he will be in hospital and how long he will have to have off work.

VP isn't something that is automaticaly replaced in the line of succession.
Were something to happen to the POTUS while there is no VP, for whatever reason, next in line is Speaker of the House.
