I realize they are trying; but this makes me all the more appreciative of what happened at Philadelphia (a constitution of one page, and displayed on the wall of most libraries).
Most of what is in the Iraqi document ought to be in legislation passed by the Iraqi parliament, not in a constitution (which is only a contract in which the Iraqis agree as to how their government is to operate).

Article (2): 1st - Islam is the official religion of the state and is a basic source of legislation:
(a) No law can be passed that contradicts the undisputed rules of Islam.
(b) No law can be passed that contradicts the principles of democracy.
(c) No law can be passed that contradicts the rights and basic freedoms outlined in this constitution.
Talk about opening the door for contradictions......Sheez.....

Thanks for the ping! This isn't a constitution as we know ours to be.
This is more like a tech manual for a 55 Ford.
But,it's a start.

The arabs and muslims all hate each other. Watching them interact is like watching young children interact (only the muslims and arabs have guns). Their culture is severely lacking in compassion, respect, moral values, ethical values, respect for the law, respect for each other, and an overall balance (They aren't allowed to party enough and they get way too much religion). They are just filled with guilt and hate.
I don't know what to make of that part of the world. They can't stop shooting at each other and future prospects aren't looking good, either. Anyone who would rather hate then learn is a difficult one to deal with. Man this situation is a real can of worms!

Thank you for the post. I have been following this issue very very closely, and your post does not contain article (14). There is a version of the consternation that has been put in place that contains an article (14), and it's worth looking into.
Give me a moment to search for a current version.
