Have you read why this particular shape? Were the plane parts found in this pattern?
I tried and off course their web site is down...
Excellent work, again.
Surely, they must have been misled about it's meaning somehow. It seems so obvious, I don't get it.
I saw a tv show about it tonight and it was very touching. They were very heoric and will be remembered always.
I can only wish it were a joke. See "Flight 93 Memorial: Seeing is Believing" and "Flight 93 victims honored with Muslim Crescent?" Those articles clearly show what kind of abomination we're facing here.
But the worst part is that there are certain trollish types on FR who think there's nothing wrong with it! Frickin' idiots all.
"I am appalled at the design chosen to honor the heroes of flight 93. The "crecent" design seems to honor the hijackers, as thier "faith" in Islam utilizes the crecent in symbolism. The "artist" must sympathize with the terrorists rather than the passengers who fought bravely against the evil that the culture of death terrorist represents. I really question the need for any memorial since there aren't any crosses in the "design" and there were plenty of Christians aboard.
There is no way that I can donate to a site that gives Islamo-fascists a memorial of their own on American soil. It's as if you're constructing a new place for Muslims to congregate and congratulate themselves....what a waste! How could such a piss-poor design be chosen to honor the terrorist's plans for destruction instead of the horoes of flight 93 in such a place of peace."
"From Hell"
They got an earful from me before they went down.
I don't understand this either. It needs to be replaced with something else more appropriate.
Judging by the information posted here, it's pretty obvious that the members of the panel were naïve (at best) or duped (at worst). The anti-American bias in the design juror's remarks are unmistakeable and inexcusable.
Considering that the heroes of Flight 93 said the Lord's Prayer together before taking out the Islamists, I'd say the most prominent aspect should (and must) be a crucifix.
It strikes me strangest that this memorial, which the architects SWEAR is not anything at all like an islamic crescent, will resemble exactly that when seen from above: in a plane, exactly as the Heroes of Flight 93 would have seen it as they fought for their lives, and the lives of strangers on the ground.
Of course it won't resemble that at all when seen from the ground, so I wonder how the presentation was made to the families who voted for the design? I've read a few articles from family members who supported this design now, and their word counts more than mine, as none of my loved ones were murdered by islamic terrorists. I hope they aren't being tricked (and that is the nicest word I could come up with).
At this point I feel they, the heroes who died and their surviving family members, deserve better than a memorial that evokes so much suspicion, confusion, and outrage.
If you haven't already seen the National Geographic two part program on 9/11, set your TIVO. It is really, really good. I can't imagine even liberals feeling sorry for Bin Laden after seeing it all put together like this.
Quote from the website:
"The crescent of embrace enhances the form and monumental scale of the Bowl to commemorate the heroic actions of the passengers and crew of Flight 93."
Crescent of embrace.........I think these people are dropping acid to write stuff like this. Has to be the biggest possible insult to Americans to use the "crescent" in this design.
The heroes of Flight 93 said the Lord's Prayer before taking out the Islamist terrorists on the aircraft. Having a red Islamist crescent at the core of this "memorial" is an abomination and an affront to the faith that sustained our American heroes when evil took control of an American aircraft to kill Americans.
This pro-Islamist, anti-American memorial will not go unopposed. That's an ironclad guarantee. We Americans simply will not put up with any more of this idiocy.
