No footage from 9/11

I just got done yelling at my father in law. He didn't really deserve it… he was telling me again how there is a conspiracy to keep a low consumption conventional gasoline engine from the public...'200 miles to the gallon' he said in his heavy Hungarian accent. It's a silly argument that we've had before and I don't usually get upset at him for it, but today I melted down. I apologized of course and everyone seemed to understand. They know I'm only upset because it's September 11th.

That day 4 years ago, I was home. I had interviewed on Friday September 7th for a position with a company on a higher floor of the north tower and had a call back for Wednesday the 12th. Everyone I interviewed with was killed along with a dozen or so people, some of whom I've known since I was 14 years old. One old friend in particular died leaving 2 children and a pregnant wife.

The weather that day was almost exactly like today, and my family and I stood there safe in my Westchester living room and watched the world descend into the surreal. I wanted to record the images, but I was too upset. I regret it now because it seems I might never be able to see them again. The media has decided that I'm too frail for such harsh reminders.

So I yelled at my father in law today but it wasn't him I was really upset at.

Here in New York, all the local News stations are showing the ceremony at ground zero. They are reading the names, and tolling a bell to coincide with the buildings coming down. I watched it long enough to hear the names of my closest friends who died that day, and to see the sister of one of them on TV. And I believe that it's important to have this kind of ceremony, but not nearly as important as remembering the events from that day.

The media has decided that the images from 9/11 are too graphic to show to Americans. They wouldn't want to offend our delicate sensibilities by showing images that remind us that there are a millions of people out there who hate us because of who we are not what we do. And that's what has me so upset today. They make this sill pretense, but in fact they don't want to show us the images because they know that it might build support for the policies current administration which they oppose with all their might.

It's my personal feeling that the news organizations should play the news feeds as they came in that day. I'm furious that the media has made a decision about who's side they are on and it isn't mine.

I don't really know what to do about it. It seems to me that the MSM behaves the way it wants and argues the points it wants regardless of the evidence which may contradict it. They've long since stopped trying to offer non-partisan news, but that's really beside the point in a case like this. They say that societies aren't destroyed but that they commit suicide and if that's so, then the media is doing all it can to help speed the suicide of the west.

It seems to me the footage from 9/11 would be a ratings winner, and as such at least Fox news should run it, but even they don't. It seems to me that all the letters and phone calls in the world would make the media change sides on an issue like this. But I'd appreciate any suggestions.

I do feel better about one small thing today. I was surfing around and saw that old favorite FR bumper sticker it said: "You are not alone" www.freerepublic.com. It was nice to remember that.

My mother is the same way and we just had it out over the phone. There are no vast conspiracies, only ineptitude and a wish to hide it.

The Socialist-Media Complex has no compuction about broadcasting, again and again, imagery that casts a negative image on our country, or erodes the will to fight. 9-11 video has the opposite effect, and is therefore concealed.

But the media, most infamously CNN, want to show images of the dead from Katrina, apparently they believe that's more suitable. The media is activly destroying America.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and your chilling experience.

MSM is supporting the terrorists. They would rather see America destroyed, than to have President Bush's approval ratings go up by a couple of percentage points. It's all about politics for them. That's why they don't want to remind people of 9-11-01, or those that do, publish disgusting editorials that serve to purpose to encourage the terrorists.

But I hope most people remember, even if the MSM would like us to forget what happened on 9-11 and why we are fighting this war.

Some people believe what they *want" or "have" to believe. No amount of facts can change them. Conspiricys have an answer to any fact. It's tough when its your loved ones. People do change sometimes. I have seen close friends over the course of a decade change their politics. It is a slow process.

Sadly, I don't believe anything we can do by way of requests will move the MSM from their mission to remove President Bush from office.

But, take heart - you are not alone, indeed ~ please view 9-11 PHOTO REMEMBRANCE THREAD (slow: many photos)

My dad knew it, "down to his bones", that big oil was and is keeping a 75-100 mpg carburetor off the market since the late 60's. As I grow older I am realizing that my Dad was a pretty smart guy.

Gotta get me one of those bumper stickers.

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me

It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it every day

Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

Thanks for the link. I went to their home page and bookmarked it. Too bad none of 9/11 is in the MSM. I guess they "forgot." Pathetic.

I didn't know big oil owned Holly, Edelbrock, Webber, or the boys in Detroit and Dearborn.

Don't forget (and unlike the coverage of the New Orleans tragedy, there are NO pictures of dead bodies in this FLASH):

The media (falsely) claimed that they would not show any pictures of dead bodies (impaled on lampposts, dead in the streets) from 9-11 out of "respect" for the families of the dead.

They did not have this problem when they went to court to run pictures of dead US soldiers.

They haven't been respectful of the people from the Gulf Coast or the Tsunami victims. They show dead from Israel.

This is about propaganda. The media doesn't want to concede what happened that day. Just prior to the attacks they were reporting the UN's efforts to "condemn" the US for our slavery past and Israel for Human Rights abuses.

Liberalism is a mental disease.

Agreed! They should replay the entire day's broadcasts starting from the moment the first news bulletins started coming in.

The sanitation by the MSM of 9/11 sickens me to my stomach.

"They know I'm only upset because it's September 11th."

I always get very upset on the 911 anniversary. I am angry that OBL is still alive. I am royally pissed that Bush has done NOTHING about this for 4 years. We know he is somewhere in the border region between Afganistan and Pakistan. We dhould send an army in there to get him. If the Paki's don't like it, tough s**t. The Afgans tried to protect him and we took them out. We should do the same here. If the local tribes don't like it, let them pay the price for hiding them. I want that guy's head on a pike outside the White House. And I want it NOW. Unless Bush delivers a DEAD Bin Laden, he is a FAILED President.

"The media has decided that the images from 9/11 are too graphic to show to Americans."

Yes, it is ridiculous! When somebody dies in Iraq, they want to show pictures. When Abu Ghraib prisonners were shown naked, they wanted to show pictures. But when it comes to 9/11, oh don't even mention it! They don't want to show any pictures of 9/11. Clearly, CNN's goal is to prove Americans that they are evil, and they deserve what they get. If this is not media bias then what is?

I hear people saying we don't need this war
I say there's some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground?
We didn't get to keep 'em by backing down
They say we don't realize the mess we're getting in
Before you start preaching
Let me ask you this my friend

CHORUS 1
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And you say we shouldn't worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my T.V.
Said it's too disturbing for you and me
It'll just breed anger that's what the experts say
If it was up to me I'd show it every day
Some say this country's just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I'd have to say that's right

CHORUS 1
Have you forgotten how it felt that day
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away?
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside
Going through a living hell
And we vowed to get the ones behind Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

I've been there with the soldiers
Who've gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they're fighting for

CHORUS 2
Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Yes, some went down like heroes in that Pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our Pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost
And those left to carry on
Don't you tell me not to worry 'bout Bin Laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?
