I can't handle this. I could never, ever leave my pets behind. The thought of it makes me sick.It may sound stupid, but I couldn't leave my German Shepard behind. Period. I would float out on a piece of freaking debris until I hit dry ground, before I left her behind. If I had to walk 100 miles with her, and beg for some scraps for her, that's what I'd do. She's my best friend.

Dogs are part of the family. If we have to evacuate the dogs go with us.
The scary dog goes in the wife's car.
Teaching point - A guard dog wagging his tail does not mean he's friendly. It just means he's happy in his work.

I am with you, friend. Our German Shepard is our best friend. I would die before I left him.

It doesn't sound stupid. I agree 100%. That is EXACTLY what I say about my Huskies.

It may sound stupid, but I couldn't leave my German Shepard behind. Period. No way does that sound stupid. I feel the same way about my GS mix. She's a creature that would give her life to save mine. Loyalty goes both ways. It would be a cold day in hell before I left my dogs behind.

My dog is my best friend as well. No way I could ever leave him. I'd have packed up my dog and my survival gear have would have been gone DAYS before Katrina hit.

I understand that one. My boyhood dog was Rocky. The closest thing he ever got to a pedigree was when he chewed up my 7th grade dictionary and probably digested part of the "p's" somewhere along the line. Poor Rocky eventually died of cancer. I am in 60's, and I've just never been able to get close to another dog, even the ones that belonged to our children. I liked them, but never loved them as I did Rocky. Puts tears in my eyes just thinking about ole Rock.

And....she would do the same for you as all our beloved, loyal pets would do. We owe them as well. I'm with you friend.
