Rapping got its start at parties where a DJ would spin records and a Master of Ceremonies would accompany them with snappy patter to encourage the crowd to dance, to party harder, etc.

The MC's eshortations evolved into a full-blown spoken "rap" over the DJ's grooves and hip hop was born.

Rappers usually call themselves MCs, hence MC Hammer, DMC, MC-A, Young MC, etc.

Jay-Z kinda sucks anyhow. He can only do so many of the 'singing girl and black rapper' songs that plagues the airwaves over the past few years. Jay-Z jumped the shark a while back.

I didn't say you should, but I do think they should both be looked at for more than just rappers. And for what its worth they are far more diversified than MJ.

Also MC is also taken as a backronym for Mic(rophone) Controller, Mic(crophone) Commander, etc.

Holding somebody accountable for his speech does not mean his freedom of speech is being infringed.
