So if we contribute so little, we might as well contribute nothing, since our contributation is so small it probably won't make a difference anyway...

I say let's become the least in dollar terms. Zero-ish sounds about right.

Another example of the psychosis known as the UN and the New York Times.
Get the Thorazine.

These corrupt thieves have some nerve to take anybody to task over anything. Set your own useless house in order, Koffee & Kriminals.

Our country donates the fist of freedom. The UK and Australia (and hopefully soon the Japanese) provide a couple of the fingers, but what in the hell has Sweden done to spread liberty around the world? Oh, now I remember, they award an overly politicized "peace prize". If I remember correctly that fine humanitarian Yasser Arafat won it once.

The UN can go suck an egg, Ask the victims of the Tsunami if we are not generous.
Now that the U.N. and Kofi Annan have been exposed for the crooks they are, expect these kind of stories at least three times a week

They should be glad we contribute anything at all - especially since most of the cash ends up in the offshore bank accounts owned by the dictators and their cronies.

What the HELL are those at the UN smoking? Name ONE country that gives more to the international community -both through the UN and outside the UN.

Notice they are only talking about governmental aid. If you factor in private aid we are at the top.
To: RWR8189
I think these UN studies only count government contributions. What individual citizens give are not even counted, if they were I think we would be near the top.
To: Sthitch
The West is the engine of the world, throwing off benefits to those who freely participate. You have to wonder about the mental state of someone who would write a screed like this one.

Per capita spending.
USA Population 295,734,134 x $51 = $15,082,440,834.00
Sweden Population 9,001,774 X $200 = $1,800,354,800.00
Looks like Sweden needs to spend about $1,675 per capita to catch up with us. The slackers!

Aw, the UN can go jump in Lake New Orleans. They are SO predictable.

This is a huge distortion; religious and private giving from both these countries is huuuuuuuge.
They don't have governments that do everything for them.

There is absolutely NO WAY to realistically spin the fact that the US is the most generous nation on the face of the planet. This does not make sense to anybody unless your last name is Kennedy or Clinton.

Boy, you've got to hand it to those UN wankers ... they've sure got great timing. Bashing us because we give the least per capita and the least portion of our GNP, while acknowledging that we
do give the biggest dollar figure. And right when we're in the middle of dealing with a natural disaster of biblical proportions. Those gals just endear themselves to us more each day!
I keep waiting for someone to do something about Oil-for-Food.
