The only mistake Bush made was to assume the Governor and Mayor of LA were competent.

If Jeb had been Gov. and Rudy been Mayor, the crisis would have been 1/10th of what it was.

CNN has apparently never read the U.S. Constitution. Only one who totally ignores the most precious document in America, that limits Federal authority, would write such trash. CNN and any other media who write this garbage, or liberal institutions of higher indoctrination ...is the ENEMY of the U.S. Constitution.

This is what you get with an Orwellian press. It's as though the federal government was directly running New Orleans all these years.

I am going to go write a white paper on a Martian invasion so I can be interviewed on CNN when it happens

Please be sure to include in your paper that Ray Nagin will be leading a convoy of school buses to evacuate people in the line of fire of martian death ray guns.

The Elected officials is Mississippi did not do much better. In fact the New Orleans evacuation of 1.25 million people before the storm hit was a miracle.

CNN is irrelevant. The best evidence of this is their own claim that they have been broadcasting from the convention center for "days." If this is true, than were where all the other stories on this from before Thursday.

The only "convention" story I read was a Miami Herald article from Wednesday that claimed 50 people took up shelter near the freeway ramp...so even they obviously weren't listening to CNN.

The column appears to have come from Time, but apparently nobody wanted to sign their name to it.

This thing is filled with so many lies, distortions, and quarter-truths (not even half-truths) there's no surprise it's anonymous.

It is actually Time magazine that made it up since this
piece contains the Time trademark at the bottom of the page.

Nothing new for Time to omit exculpatory facts or happen to mention the President himself tried to get Blanco to call for a mandatory evacuation a full twenty-four hours before she did it. Nor did they mention the fact that he had signed National Disaster Area documents two days before the hurricane in an unprecedented move to expedite the help they thought would be necessary.

Yeah, he was slow to react. Slow as an F-18.

Right from Goebbels playbook.

Can't blame'm... it's worked for sooooo long without a hitch. No matter how much they SAY they know about blogs and the speed of the internet... they refuse to adapt to their new adversary.

Interesting that CNN can find nothing to blame in the conduct of the Mayor of New Orleans or the Governor of Louisiana. I watched CNN last week, but no more. No more giving them the benefit of the doubt. CNN is off forever in my house.

So, CNN, please, tell us what you've been doing for the survivors?

You send reporters and tecnicians in well-fed in large vehicles. Your reporters have multiple changes of clothes. Your technicians have some down time. What are they doing then?

If you are doing anything, please don't worry about making it look like you're patting yourselves on the back.

Last time I checked, your corporations were making pretty good money.

Have you made a donation? Brought in food? Water? Clothing?

Is anyone donating any labor? Helping out at the shelters? Letting antone use your phones?

Hey, if they are, great. Let's hear about it. Until then, the silence if deafening.

Waving her magic wand, the fairy godmother asked George; "What is your greatest wish?"

"I want everything to be BUSH'S FAULT!"

But the fairy godmother's magic wasn't strong enough for this wish. All she could manage was a short pod on CNN. To make matters worse, most of the commentary was in words with two or more syllables and only 1 out of 5 DUmmies watching could understand the content.

The END!

Yeah, I searched for the "name" also. Nada Maybe Dan Rather is contributing undercover.
I was watching when Pres made the remark about Lotts house and in no way did he even teasingly say that the government would rebuild it.

Or was it that odd moment when he promised to rebuild Mississippi Senator Trent Lott's house -- a gesture that must have sounded astonishingly tone-deaf to the homeless black citizens still trapped in the postapocalyptic water world of New Orleans.
Only CNN could have made this up.

Or, apparently, the White House.

President George W. Bush: "We've got a lot of rebuilding to do. First, we're going to save lives and stabilize the situation. And then we're going to help these communities rebuild. The good news is -- and it's hard for some to see it now -- that out of this chaos is going to come a fantastic Gulf Coast, like it was before. Out of the rubbles of Trent Lott's house -- he's lost his entire house -- there's going to be a fantastic house. And I'm looking forward to sitting on the porch. (Laughter.)"

"Brownie, you're doing a heck of a job," said the President.

I was amazed when I saw and heard Bush say the above. It was a "throwaway" remark, but it was the wrong thing to say and the wrong place to say it. I predict that it will come back to haunt Bush and Republicans regardless of any Katrina's Commissions findings. It will be a Democratic TV sound bite in "06 and '08. There are those of you that call me a "Bush Basher" when I raise the poor PR performance of "W" and then proceed to remind me that PR is not listed as a presidential job description or an executive duty under the U.S. Constitution. Neither is fund raising and campaigning for senate and house candidates in the off years. Yet, as head of the Republican Party it is expected of a president. The Hurricane is certainly not Bush's fault, but his polling numbers are. They're also the Republican Party's polling numbers.

Keep trying, MSM. Only 13% blame Bush, and that number will shrink as more facts are exposed.

But keep trying.

I disagree with the "not doing a good job" label. Hey, it was a natural disaster that wiped out some pretty significant infrastructure over a broad area. Nobody has a magic wand to make it better.

Would the levee hold or break? Indeed, who knew?

What I do know is that the locals had a plan for evacuation when a large hurricane approached. They didn't follow it. And their "leadership" has been abysmal. In fact, they've abandoned their duties. W has done 10 times what any local official has done, and he's getting raped by the MSM (again) while they let the incompetent dims off the hook.
