THE ABACOS AND BIMINI.
A TROPICAL STORM WARNING MEANS THAT TROPICAL STORM CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED WITHIN THE WARNING AREA WITHIN THE NEXT 24 HOURS.
TROPICAL DEPRESSION CENTER LOCATED NEAR 26.5N 78.6W AT 06/1500Z POSITION ACCURATE WITHIN 30 NM
PRESENT MOVEMENT IS STATIONARY

MAX SUSTAINED WINDS 25 KT WITH GUSTS TO 35 KT.

Even just a heavy rain event would exacerbate the slow motion disaster along the Gulf Coast - more water is not good at this time.

I am more concerned with the feature just south of NOLA. Looks like some low level circulation. I just looked at the IR and water vapor and it don't look good.

After Katrina, the worst-case scenario is now for a hurricane to hit Houston. Not only would they have to evacuate their own people, but they'd need to evacuate all the folks they have brought in.
Plus, we couldn't take the damage to our brittle refining industry if the refineries along Galveston Bay are affected.
Is this in the vicinity where katrina formed.. Im weather dumb
Looks like Tropical Storm Nate is going to become a hurricane and pass very close to Bermuda. Everybody gets to share in the fun this year.
