You need to check this thread. Your concern that the letter of Louisiana governor Blanco asking the President for help is good for Blanco is not in its place. Our fellow freepers here have analyzed the letter and it shows how much Blanco underestimated what they need from the Fedreal government in particular on the issue of coordination. Blanco and Nagin wanted to be in charge of the operation and they failed miserably. When the Feds stepped in late on last Wednesday and took control of the operations, everything worked much better since then. It is a failure of leadership among the local and state officials in Louisiana or in the case of Blanco and Nagin, the absolute lack of it.
Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (OHSEP): Providing generators and support staff for SNS and Public Shelters. Costs estimated to range from $250,000-$500,000 to support (6) Shelter generator operations.
The state of LA has agreed to pay up to $500,000 for generators and support staff to DHS to cover the cost of hurricane relief.
I'm getting all choked up. Somebody grab me a Kleenex. /sarc.
bump, for you to read
In NOLA the large majority would vote for a ham sandwich if it had a (D) after it. The RAT promises came to naught this time.
Hey, who knew the KunDun (Dalai Lama) had an imitator in the US (KunDum)?
More on the Queen of Incompentence.
Thanks for the link to this thread. I'm trying to understand the situation, so all of the FReeper research really helps!
IMHO, her impeachment will be the order of business in the next few sessions of the State Legislature.
News Max has an article that quotes the NO plan prepared for the emergency. None of the plan was carried out by the state government that wrote it. It even says they're to use the school buses to make sure everyone gets out, but they didn't bother.
Can't imagine who advised her...surely she had advisors. They were really wrong sadly.
I can't imagine why she is not under federal detention.
In any other state, maybe so. The Times Picayunne which seems to be the "state newspaper" for the Legislature came out raging against Pres Bush today.
why do we need to know her maiden name?
Horrors! Are you suggesting that a Demo lib be proud of being a married woman?? Wash out yo mouth, boy!
IMHO, her impeachment will be the order of business in the next few sessions of the State Legislature.
No way. Watch for her to be given some award(s) for bravery and courage under stress/fire. Barf. She's going to make a fortune giving speaches and writing a book after this is all over. Watch for Hitlery to be introducing her to fund raising groups.
I had to dig deep to go back and find this article and if I paste it right (not good at this) then go to the bottom or keep going on down near the bottom to read where Blanco fought the whitehouse Friday night about federal assistancehttp://msnbc.msn.com/id/9189916
