Yes, I've been disgusted at Geraldo. However, I will give him credit for being the first reporter I saw to get to the airport and recognize the incredible efforts of the airlifts. He compared them to the airlifts of Berlin. MSNBC wasn't covering it at all and the reporterette at CNN was outraged that the airport looked like a military zone. I couldn't believe it. The media demands the US to act, and when they arrive, they ring their hands and whine that they are there. I was utterly disgusted and Geraldo was the only one who got it right.

While Geraldo was reporting on HIS rescue of the aged woman and her 15 year old dog...

I watched the woman being escorted to the helicopter in the distant background while Geraldo was crying about the downed rescue helicopter in the foreground.

The poor dog was so feeble that it stumbled and finally fell down. The deputy, who was leading the dog with one hand and lending his right arm (southern style) to the old woman, was oblivious to the fallen dog who by this time was being dragged on its back kicking...trying to right itself.

See my #204. I wrote it before seeing your post. I wonder how many saw that...and how far did the escort drag that dog?

Someone probably figured out it was time to relieve him. When Geraldo first appeared I was thinking perhaps he was sent to replace Shep.

I wonder if they were fired upon?

Don't know about that, but the copter went down in the vacinity of the Danziner bridge. This is the area where the police had the shootout with the thugs.

"The pilot of a civilian helicopter and a passenger participating in the Hurricane Katrina rescue effort escaped serious injury Sunday night after the aircraft crash landed near the Danziger Bridge over the Industrial Canal in the Lower Ninth Ward, state officials said." -- nola.com

"New Orleans Police officers sent up a cheer at one point Sunday at a report that their colleagues had engaged in a shootout with an armed group on the Danziger Bridge in eastern New Orleans, with several of the suspected marauders - but none of the police officers - being hit. Deputy Police Chief W.J. Riley said police shot eight people, killing five or six of them." -- nola.com

I did not know that. The news people aren't talking much about that crash now. These "looters" that keep firing on rescuers and the military are acting an awful lot like the "insurgents" in Iraq.

They are acting like terrorists.

I just remembered too, that later I saw a report somewhere that said the contractors were fired upon by "snipers" from a nearby housing project.

Which is it? Were the gunmen killed on the bridge - or in a housing project?

What's the straight story?

The contractors and police were on the bridge.

I believe the thugs were off the bridge.

Geraldo was also saying it was Coast Guard helo. It wasn't. CG helo's are orange & white and clearly marked as CG.

It was only a matter of time, that many flight ops, long hours for both pilots and crew, and Maintainance personnel.

My thoughts exactly! On the other hand, the fact there has been only 1 accident just goes to show how darn good our guys/gals are..........Truly Amazing!

Don't you just love Whorealdo's breathless commentary? I anxiously await another earth shatering expose or discovery to trump his Al Caapone treasure vault foray.

Well, Dick, I guess your easily pleased by an obvious knock off of a tired old joke submitted for that very reason. BTW, are you a Troll?

no I mean it... that was funny.. I know about the no blood for oil.. that the left uses, but I haven't heard that one..

I don't think I'm a troll.... if you look at my comments, they might border on the "not good" but as for "troll"... nope... long standing member of the FR and voted for Reagan, Bush, Bush, Dole, Bush, and Bush.... my wife and my dog voted the same way as well.

...the only backsliding I did was when I tried to convince my wife that a bl@wjob wasn't sex if it was performed by a 19 year old intern. She didn't buy it, so I guess I make a pretty rotten liberal and could never be President....... or governor of Arkansas
