I was looking for an organization to donate to in Mississippi - I think LA is going to get lots of money, which it probably needs, but it seems to me that sending all the money to LA is like rewarding bad behavior.

Any suggestions on a relief organization that would keep the money in Mississippi?

[MS] Looks more devastated than anything I've seen in La.

That's because Mississippi actually took the brunt of the storm proper. NOLA was flooded. The Mississippi Gulf Coast was flattened.

NOLA's abject helplessness has masked the even worse damage in Mississippi.

In the farthest part of NE Mississippi, our firemen and police are almost to their second three day rotation duty down on the coast. I've already sent a pickup load to a friend South of Hattiesburg and so have others here. NO is a cluster...We don't need the racist and baiting MSM.

Joe "I'm really, really, really a Republican" Scarbourough has already taken over that job.
I'd really like to ask all of those idiot reporters who act like getting in and out is sooooo easy to map out their routes and tell us how you would move a 80 ton truck over them with supplies.
The "armchair first-responders" are making me ill.

I drift off to "Am American Trilogy."

Oh I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times they are not forgotten
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland.

Oh I wish I was in Dixie, away, away
In Dixieland I'll take my stand to live and die in Dixie

'Cause Dixieland... I was born
Early on one frosty morn'
Look away, look away, look away Dixieland.

Glory... glory hallelujah
Glory... glory hallelujah
Oh Glory... glory hallelujah
His truth is marching on.

So hush little baby
Don't you cry...
You know your daddy's bound to die

But all... all my trials Lord
Will soon be over
Dixieland... I'm comin' home...

Glory, glory hallelujah His truth will be marching on His truth is marching on

Signs everywhere say "Looters will be shot".

Anyone who knows the local folk had better take it seriously.

Notice there's no mention that it will be police who do the shooting.

There's a big difference between MS and LA on the moral scale. It still surprises me that MSM has reported almost nothing from MS.

I do think they should be mad at Trent "the-government-is-wonderful" Lott and his idiotic remarks. Who gives a crap if this useless multimillionaire tool has to rebuild one of his fully-insured houses located in Mississippi? We're supposed to cry for poor Trent? I think not.

Good to hear from Mississippi, Doug. Good to hear also that some have their heads in the air and feet on the ground.Best to you and all Mississippians and Alabamians.

NO is sucking up all the air....but I didn't forget.

What did Trent Lott say? I haven't seen nor heard him. I did hear that he encouraged the President to go to MS.

Not forgotten, but not as desperate as a residents that are waist deep in water and must be airlifted out if they are to escape.
