When CNN tries to move to center, they lose their base and ratings. They move too far left, they lose sponsors.

I watched off and on for an hour. I didn't hear anything political being said. They were just introducing organizations: Habitat for Humanity, Feed the Children, Salvation Army, Red Cross, Second Harvist, Mercy Corps, a medical relief organization, etc. and letting them give their task and how one could help.

Sela Ward actually said that all the world can see this isn't about color, black or white, we're all helping each other.

The Commander of the NG was on and he even gave a recruitment pitch for the NG.

As far as I can tell, so far it's been fine, but I turned it off a little after nine to get some other stuff done...and check in on FR.

Republicans are spineless. Period. Our leaders are in total control of the senate, congress, and the white house. We have everything we could possibly want and we allow this to continue...spineless.

Maybe I have been wrong all along and maybe the leftist's have it right, that Blacks just don't have the ability to take of themselves and really need a welfare state. Maybe they are right when they don't hold them personally responsible because they just don't have the ability to be responsible

No it's not race but party politics that seem to be the the factor..the people that think the Federal should provide all did just that... the local and state goverment sat there with thumb up there ass waiting on Bush and the Fed to come in.

Email to CNN

Dear Larry

I don't plan on watching your show tonight. Having a very radical guest list tells me that Bush and white people are going to be bashed frontwards and backwards.

Shame on you Larry and shame on you CNN. Isn't there a more subtle way to show your bias. I am sure that a few people will tune in but that will be hard core haters of America.

Maybe, but I am really beginning to wonder. At some point I have to use my observation's and take people at their word and their (Sharpton, Boxer, Jackson, etc.) word even though it is not stated explicitly is that Blacks have no ability to care for themselves or act responsibly and unselfishly. I am not saying this out of hatred or bigotry but out of a concern that I have been wrong in expecting that each person has an ability to exert self control and has the intellect to understand issues beyond simple Racism as the sole cause to all problems. I guess this whole incident and the reaction of the left and especially among Black leaders has really shaken me. Maybe it will pass but I don't know.

Harry Connick Jr. said that Nagin fleeing to Baton Rouge was nothing but a rumor.

He said Nagin never left NO.

It would be nice if the MM would take advantage of their opportunity to educate the public and maybe get back a measure of rational judgement based on common sense, instead of the moronic babbling typical of Larry King. A few facts from another freeper:

1. The National Guard does not fall under federal control. Municipal and state authorities control them, and for apparently political reasons they passed up opportunities to mobilize them.

2. The federal government does not control buses or handle evacuations. Local authorities do. Again, apparently for political reasons, they declined to order a full on mandatory evacuation, probably because they feared an "unnecessary" panic.

2. The NO breech did not occur until 2 am Monday morning. The press and apparently the local authorities did not recognize it as horrid disaster that it was, and failed to respond to it as strongly as they could have. National resources were not requested by local authorities until after the city was fully lost and the disaster was well underway.

I watched a fair portion of it, primarily to see Eric Clapton, who is a class act and far from being a mouthy pop star. I saw a story last week where he was actually bashing Bonor and Bob Geldof for acting like politicians instead of musicians.

Celine Dijon, however, is a different story. She showed the world what an egotistical, classless, untalented oaf she is. As far as I'm concerned, she & grandpa Rene can take their $1 million, leave Las Vegas and take the next plane to France

Connick has lost a lot of his base this week with his hysterical rants about Bush and killing blacks.

It was a Category 4 hurricane that killed them...along with their own city and state officials.
