"the city police force was left with only a third of its pre-storm strength"

This is one of the MOST under-reported stories thus far.... the complete collapse of the NOPD, with 1/2 or 2/3 (estimates I've seen) of its officers AWOL in the face of this terrible catastrophe. The opposite of the phenomenal NYFD and NYPD during the 9/11 crisis. Granted, it must be a terrible dilemma to worry about your family's safety in such a crisis, but PUBLIC SAFETY is what you've sworn to defend and what you're paid for....

Let's face it. Louisiana was the worst possible state out of the 50 to have a disaster in, and it's not even close.

I'm pretty sure the docs and nurses didn't go home and feel sorry for themselves....pretty sure they stayed on and on......

pathetic.....besides, from the looks of some of those NO cops, they would have been worthless anyway....carrying way, way too much blubber to do much go for anyway.......
