I think they may know that they're in trouble. I was surprised today that the dem response to the president's televised message was positive. Not a disparaging word. They must have a clue that their blaming could boomerang.
Too late, they have slandered the Pres and our Country around the world.

First Responders Urged Not To Respond To Hurricane Impact Areas Unless Dispatched By State, Local Authorities
Release Date: August 29, 2005
Release Number: HQ-05-174
WASHINGTON D.C. -- Michael D. Brown, Under Secretary of Homeland Security for Emergency Preparedness and Response and head of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), today urged all fire and emergency services departments not to respond to counties and states affected by Hurricane Katrina without being requested and lawfully dispatched by state and local authorities under mutual aid agreements and the Emergency Management Assistance Compact.
The response to Hurricane Katrina must be well coordinated between federal, state and local officials to most effectively protect life and property, Brown said. We appreciate the willingness and generosity of our Nation first responders to deploy during disasters. But such efforts must be coordinated so that fire-rescue efforts are the most effective possible.
The U.S. Fire Administration, part of FEMA, asks that fire and emergency services organizations remain in contact with their local and state emergency management agency officials for updates on requirements in the affected areas.
It is critical that fire and emergency departments across the country remain in their jurisdictions until such time as the affected states request assistance, said U.S. Fire Administrator R. David Paulison. State and local mutual aid agreements are in place as is the Emergency Management Assistance Compact and those mechanisms will be used to request and task resources needed in the affected areas.
Paulison said the National Incident Management System is being used during the response to Hurricane Katrina and that self-dispatching volunteer assistance could significantly complicate the response and recovery effort.
But when did they request aid?
Never.
I hope you are right re: the Demonrats wising up. I don't think the race pimps will shut up. They can't. They don't have any other repertoire. (JJ, AS) But MOST AMERICANS want to help and want to see the help getting to the people who need it and don't have time or interest in blaming anybody.
bump
You can't believe anything the MSM is saying about Katrina relief anymore than you can believe anything that mental midget governor of LA and the mental midget mayor of N.O. are saying.
Yesterday there was an irate black leader ranting and raving on tv about the lack of response from the feds.
When told that the Navy's hospital ship, the USNS Comfort was en route, but, would not arrive for another 7 days-he went nuts , yelling " It should have been here on Wed !!!"
From the Navy :
When called to action, the ship is designed to be activated, crewed, mission-ready and able to sail in five days.
Additional crew members and medical personnel are now arriving on board, specific medical supplies are being procured and ship systems are being readied to expedite the ship's departure.
It will take the 894-foot hospital ship about seven days to reach the U.S. Gulf Coast region, with a stop in Mayport, Fla. Comfort will stop in Mayport en route to the Gulf Coast to load additional medical supplies, as well as additional hospital personnel, mostly from the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.
So 5 days to get ready and 7 days to sail- means that the Mr Cleo, George Bush, should have activated the ship on August 18.
On Aug 24, Katrina was still a tropical depression, so on the 18th, Katrina may have just been nothing more than a cloud formation off the coast of Africa.
Facts don't matter, doncha know?
