Remember, these people took the party of FDR and twisted it into the "anti-anything except what we do" party.

FDR looked at the world after the attack on Pearl Harbor (Hawaii was not even a state then) and recognized that simply attacking the attackers would be insufficient. FDR knew that defeat of all the major threats was required. Hitler made that easy by declaring war on us (something Sadaaam was not stupid enough to do, but did so implicity through continous shooting at our patrol jets).

FDR realized that before the enemy changes your world, you had better change the enemy's world.

W realized the same thing after 9-11. W knew that the enemy had tried a decapitation move on our nation with the intent of crippling us and making-over the world in the vein of Islamic Fundamentalism. So, W set out to change the world of the enemy.

The Middle East has been a cauldron of hate for decades. This region of the world was the subject of much fiction and realistic projection as the source of our next major war. The Middle East was also the breeding ground of those that attacked us.

So, W decided to present the American middle finger to Mr. Bin Laden and his followers --- you came here to change our world, now we are coming there to change yours.

FDR was remembered for his leadership in defeating the powers of tyranny. W will earn the same respect in time.

Good post.

I hope so, but even in the midst of the chaos in New Orleans, the left is relentless in its pursuit of Bush. The Dem web sites are beyond the pale. Of course, Lincoln faced a lot of the same kinds of criticism, especially during the 1864 campaign, but nothing can match the hatred and lunacy of the left today.
