"Picking up trash left behind by illegal entrants crossing the desert. "
and
"The vast majority of illegal border crossers are only looking to better their lives, . . ."

Fine the illegals $500 (the coyotes $50,000) and have them work off their fine, as well as food and lodging charges, at the prevailing minimum wage rate - then deport 'em.

They want a better life? Let them start by cleaning up the place so it will look nicer and be healthier the next time they sneak across the border.

I recall some posted a picture of a sign along the border which states that the fine for unlawful entry is $5000.00. Fine them that amount, if they cannot pay it will be six months forced labor. They can be used to build the wall, if they escape back into Mexico no big deal. But they should no that escaping is 5 years hard labor, so they better not show up in the US again.

The open borders lobby loves the present situation, they privately reap the benefit of cheap labor while the public bears much of the cost. If the our economy is so dependent on exploiting cheap labor (in another thread Bayourod claimed each illegal alien farmworker creates as many as 10 jobs!) the it will thrive on forced labor. Somehow though I doubt we will have much available. Severe punishment does not need to be meted out often, while lenient punishment is used all the time. Think Singapore and the cane, rarely needs to be used.
