The rats are leaving the nest and got caught out in the open. I imagine there will be a lot of them in hiding for a while but eventually they will get sick, run out of water, etc. It will be weeks or longer before they're all caught.
Miami/Dade police are there flying in a helicopter. They have a lot of experience dealing with crime.
