"Rehab New Orleans"?

Shall we rebuild the "projects" as before? They might have had a place in the 1960's Great Society, but not in a 2006 rebuilt New Orleans...

bs.

you could prepare a lifetime and still not be ready.

and to the bro that's from NY...bfd.

the FACTS are, two buildings came down in NY.

N.O. and the entire surrounding counties are destroyed.

NO COMPARISON IN MAGNITUDE

You have got to be kidding....

N.O. had a levee for a CAT 3 disaster. Who in their right mind would protect all of the assets of N.O. with an equivalent levee for a suburb. Everyone saw this coming, so it could of been planned for.

By contrast no one foresaw the twin towers fall, and the recovery was amazing.

There is no comparison. 3000 people killed in matter of minutes by terrorists vs 1000's killed by natural and criminal means over the period of days due to ????

Maybe, maybe not. More than two buildings came down or had to be brought down from the immediate area. I know, I lived down there and lived through the search and recovery. Lower Manhattan from 14th Street down was totally shut down for weeks with NO food deliveries because no trucks were allowed. We had to walk to midtown just to buy food. The fact is that order did not break down and people helped each other. New Orleans had decades to prepare for this type of disaster, perhaps not in magnitude but Nagin showed no leadership in running off to Baton Rouge rather than setting up his command post somewhere, say at the Superdome where he could take charge of the situation.

The corrupt NOLA politicians have done nothing to shore up the levees in decades all the while knowing they could have burst or been blown up. What happened to their contingency plans? The Federal Government gives money to states and localities for these situations but obviously they did nothing in the last few years to even try to prevent this.

"a cake walk"? You must be kidding. Where's the leadership in Louisiana. Where's the leadership in New Orleans? They're sitting around wringing their hands and covering their collective posteriors. The Governor is supposed to call out the National Guard, not the President. Blanco is a disgrace to all of womanhood. When do you think they'll elect another woman in this state. She should have called out the Guard on Monday. It's President Bush who is leading this recovery because the Governor has failed miserably. If you wait for a Liberal to protect you, you'll wait in vain. He's too busy waiting for the Federal Government to do it.

God Bless Giuliani. When disaster happened he stood up and took charge, like any good leader would. The Governor & Mayor are not leaders. They're both politicians and losers in my opinion.

Do you remember 9/11? It was a total surprise attack. The national airspace was closed. The military was scrambled all over the country, our Nations capital was attacked, planes being hijacked (no one knew how many) it was total chaos through out the total country and world!

The people in NO had many days to prepare especially the local government. They waited until the last possible moment before they started the evacuations. There are NO leaders in NO right now.

It doesn't take long for all politicians to enter the battlefield and shoot the wounded as the first order of business.

Bush has to . . . . . .

Blah, blah, blah.

Bush is a politician.

When he could have been more profitably occupied fulfilling the "limited government" lies of the Republican Party, he assaulted the First Amendment and dumped over a trillion dollars of new pork spending on the backs of productive Americans.

You'd think people would have a clue by now about politicians.

Hammerhead must be on something. He doesn't know his arse from a hole in the ground.

Somehow the moniker "Hammerhead" fits him ... .

This almost is starting to remind me of CHIEF MOOSE. Remember HIM? We actually had a terrorist/sniper situation in the nation's capital, disrupting the whole region and causing panic, and remember HIS leadership? Lot's of parallels. I'm sick of it.

"Yeah, but I only see about 200 buses there, and if you crammed 100 people on each bus, you're only talking about being able to evacuate 20,000 people...

"How many were in the SuperDome again? Oh, crap...

"IT'S ALL BUSH'S FAULT!!!"

</ sarcastic Nagin parody>

The vitriol of one's comments is usually in inverse proportion to his ability to handle a situation. Compare President Bush's demeanor and reaction to that of the mayor of NO and the governor of LA. Thank God for our President - and that Hanoi John is not in charge!

"New Orleans Mayor No Giuliani"

That's the understatement of the century.
