I'm beginning to think he's a man of few words and fewer actions. I'm really trying to pull for GWB, but his handling of major crisis issues lately leaves a lot to be desired.
What other major crisis issues?
One of the rules of crisis is to always take credit for what you didn't do if offered, since you will always get blame for what is not your fault, whether you want it or not.
This is a NATURAL disaster of unbelieveable scale. There is nothing Bush could or should have done before now that he did not do.
However, when Marine One lands in N.O., Bush will accept title to the UNNATURAL disaster which is now unfolding. He and his people have obviously decided that this is preferable to inaction, to taking the blame for things that are not their fault.
This being so, I hope to God he's ready to take charge. If he isn't, he's going to own every dead baby and every raped woman after noon today.
That's very unfair.
But that's show biz.
unfortunately, i am agreeing, but from a different perspective... the problem is that this 24/7 news cycle we have is frankly, too much. it shows whtais happening down there minute, by never ending minute... frankly, i'm not down there, as about 95% of those on this forum aren't down there. but, i can tell you the perception is that the "federal government" is not doing anything. and the point is, it doesn't matter if they could do more, or they couldn't do more... ALOT of people feel they should have...
i know i'll be on the recieving end of "what the hell were they supposed to do, it's the democrats that hold the gov. office, the mayor's office and blah, blah, blah..." the answer is, they probably couldn't do anything but THAT message is not getting out...
i'm fully confident that my President is going to kick some ass when he gets there, and that is the reason i love him...
my only criticism is (and i don't think this is arm chair quarter backing) is, for the life of me why there were not helicopters dropping leaflets with some kind of information, any kind of information on it... just saying, we see you and we are on the way, just so they didn't feel completely abandoned... and the, "they knew this storm was coming, why the hell didn't they get out?" crap is getting old... posters who posted that, congratulations, captain obvious applauds you... but, the bottom line is, they didn't and they need to be helped... along with leaflets, why there was no way to drop water for people also confuses me? that doesn't sound out of the realm of an attainable task, and the responses of "well, the scumbags were shooting at helicoptors..", yeah, I know, that was also Thursday morning when that was happening... this had been going on since monday...
For goodness sakes... try to stay in reality...
That is totally not true. He is a man of action in every way. A man true to his word.
What would you have done? I'm serious.
