DHS has taken over control of operations for relief using some new law - first time law has been used - something like "Incidence of National Significance".

Then what's with all the weird accusations we're hearing from the NO mayor today??

It takes time, sinkspur. I know we all wish it didn't but wishing doesn't change the fact that it just simply does all take time.

And the gang-bangers held off relief efforts for at least 24-48 hours. We'd have been in there lots sooner if not for that component that deserves to be shot on sight.

As you say, today ought to be the tipping point. However, I don't expect that there won't be glitches and snags on down the line. It's the way it always works.

I was kicked out of my church choir (can't carry a tune with a bucket, and have no sense of rhythm), and you know how desperate church choirs are for members.

You must be talking about those "Church Of Anything Goes" churches. Conservative churches that don't pretend that they know better than the Bible are doing quite well.

Get over yourselves, whiners, crybabies and girlie men of FR, it was ever thus.

Right on, HateBill.

You echoed the sentiments I posted earlier in my psychotic rant in the thread linked here (Post #48) . . .

Preachin'! We need black preachin'!

"God is not pleased with our response."

Elijah, God wants you to shut the hell up and help your brothers and sisters.

Allow me to respectfully disagree. Other States are able to handle hurricane relief in an efficient and orderly manner. I defy anyone to tell me that the State of Louisiana has handled this crisis in an effective manner. The erstwhile Governor decided yesterday that her presence was necessary at a Jesse Jackson presser, where she appeared with the Reverend and the CEO of Citgo. Neither one of these people is going to do a thing to alleviate the immediate crisis. Jesse Jackson is not going to save her butt.

She should have declared martial law on Tuesday. She should have sent the National Guard into New Orleans on Tuesday. I have yet to hear a word from the commander of the Louisiana National Guard (if there is one). What is needed after this crisis is an investigation into what the State and City did with its disaster relief money.

... the main problem is that the people on the ground...the local leaders that are in charge are absolutely worthless. The lawlessness is a result of limp-wristed governing....

That is preventing any progress now. Police are sent in to do something, and are kicked out by gangs....helicopters at a hospital are being shot at while trying to move the sick. Unless FEMA has bullet-proof vests, they are in a real challenging situation right now.

I agree completely that the local N.O. and LA "leaders" are horrible and clueless. They had no plan. They have no plan. They have no clue. And they are responsible for most of the after-storm misery in N.O.

I do NOT expect FEMA or anyone else to "clean out" N.O. or solve any one of "inner" N.O.'s multiple problems any time soon. What is frustrating me is that tens of thousands of easily accessible people have been ignored for 3-4 days. A few semi's on the good road from Baton Rouge could have solved that problem. It wasn't done. Someone dropped the ball.

President Bush apparently agrees.

One of the most appalling things I've heard so far today, was the mayor of New Orleans having an hysterical tantrum, cursing and using "man" at the beginning and end of every sentence, because nobody is helping. Somewhere in his rant he stated that they have taken control away from him, and it is no wonder why.

I've been a Bush supporter and a Republican for over 80 years.

Let me do the math, over 80 years a republican, be generous and say that started when she was 12, and viola, a 92 year old republican poster on FR. A NEW RECORD!

Seminar poster with no math skills.

>>>Must be the wrong term...because that term doesn't even "google."

Is what Labyrinthos posted an explanation of Incidence of National Significance?
