Ted Koppel blames Bush for failure to evacuate poor prior to the Katrina hitting New Orleans
2 Sep 2005 | Philip Freneau

Posted on 09/01/2005 9:33:54 PM PDT by PhilipFreneau

Tonight on Nightline, during an inteview with the FEMA director, Ted Koppel demanded to know why the Bush Administration did not send fleets of buses into New Orleans to evacuate those too poor to evacuate themselves -- PRIOR TO KATRINA HITTING NEW ORLEANS.

For previous hurricanes the Federal Government did not participate in evacuations, only in clean up and recovery. That did not seem to matter much to Koppel since he obviously knew that Mike Brown was too much of a gentleman to smack him for attempting to deceived the American people.

However, Koppel does have a point, in a way. The Bush Administration should have known the Louisiana and New Orleans governments would be too incompetent to do anything right, and should have planned for it.

It wasn't Bush's job to evacuate NO. He informed the people who were responsible... what did they do? (actually a streight question, did they react quickly?)

Oh good grief! What's next? Why didn't FEMA hand out Louis Vuitton luggage for everyone to carry their clothes out in?

Hey Ted, why didn't the mayor and/or governor send in buses to evacuate people in New Orleans?

Well goodness. You didn't think Ted would blame dear Ms. Blanco. I mean, come on, she's a Democrat. They get a pass and so does the Mr. Mayor. George Bush is responsible for everything! Where have you been?

I would not hope that somebody would chop Ted Koppell's head off with a rusty shovel. That would be resorting to violence. And I am against that.

Nobody is responsible for themselves, it is the job of the federal government to do everything, immediately.

It was not the looter's fault for looting, it was the cops fault for not stopping them.

It was not the city's fault for allowing building in a flood zone, its the federal governments.

Remember, it is always somebody else's fault...

Ooops. Sorry, I forgot.. Remember, it is always BUSH's fault!!!

</sarcasm>

I saw all that crap too. I know the FEMA guy used great restraint. He almost mentioned something about the state goverment of Louisiana being somewhat, sort of, responsible. At the least he could have mentioned the phone call from the President to the Mayor of New Orleans that urged the good Mayor to issue the initial evacuation order. But of course, that's ancient history.

Ted is such a moron, I watched a n other interview after the FEMA one. He asked, about the generosity of Texas and Texans, "Any idea why these people are being so nice?"

What a ultra maroon!

A lot of the people didn't want to be evacuated or leave, because they were afraid there wouldn't be a big storm but that looters would come and steal their stuff.

They were half right.

A lot of other people didn't want to be evacuated or leave, because they didn't think things could get that bad and they would be able to loot and steal people's stuff.

They were half right.

There's lots of "blame Bush" going on tonight on the news.
Not that's it's suprizing. It sure is disgusting though.

Everyone should punch a reporter. In fact, we should have punch a reporter month. They aren't showing so many looters tonight, but they sure have alot of fat welfare people with poor grammar blaming Bush interviews.

"I wanted to jump through the television screen and choke that weasel."

Agreed. And we can't expect anything else from TK and ALL of his ilk. Such an enormously inappropriate, provocative and loaded utterance is absolutely Nazi for its proportion of deceit and distortion. The so called MSM is a scurrilous propaganda machine.

The Bush Administration should have known

Oh, brother. Right...Bush should know exactly which cities will have the commonsense to respond to which emergencies and with 24 hours notice have buses down there. Get a grip!
