I agree. My gripe is that the dome is now committed to long term housing.

This is my concern: my wife is in dental school, we live in student housing which is about 3 long blocks from the astrodome (we walk to the rodeo from our house). When I came home today I drove past a gas station that usually has 1 or 2 panhandlers on the corner. This time there had to be at least 30-40 people wandering around that street. I am scared to death for my wife, who rides the bus to the dental school every day. I'm wondering how long it will be before these new people start committing crimes against houstonians. right now im pretty certain they dont have any guns, but that's about it. you get 23,000 homeless people moving in 3 blocks from your house, you'd be bound to get a little worried too...

You have every right to worry. This is not going to end well.

life is better in a solidly red state like Texas than in a mostly blue state like Louisiana.

LA may not be a blue state after loosing NA.

Sorry we're not moving fast enough for you. And thanks for thinking so highly of us.

As a Texan that loves the Gulf Coast, accept my appreciation for all the help being sent this way. Ignore those that speak unkindly, this is a time to put all that aside. May God bless all those that respond with money, labor, and prayer.

Only a few percent of the sheeple will use the NOLA lessons as a wake up call. Most sheep just want a shepherd to lead them.

That wasn't nice - I was simply asking you to explain your question. I don't need to be spoken to like I don't understand the word "demographics" - geez, if you don't want to explain, ignore the question.

You're probably right (as usual). Except those directly impacted, they will have forgotten by the time the Super Bowl rolls around.

Most sheep just want a shepherd to lead them.

As evidenced here by those calling for a strongman to deal with this situation.

Back when the Republic consisted of Free men and women, the looting problem would have been stopped within 24 hours.

Maybe the BFTD could have used her bus to take people to the Astrodome.

BFTD = *itch from the Ditch

I meant "losing" New Orleans. Without the Democrat votes from NO, Lousianna will be in political play. Those voters are catching the bus out of town. The Dem mayor and governer will not be remembered kindly in elections. Sorry for the misspelling and misunderstanding.

Well, everybody's cranky, including me. Hence, my bitchy response. I think it's the frustration of watching our fellow citizens behaving like animals and terrorizing the innocent.

And these sheep will demand new houses be built for them, in the New New Orleans.
And they will get them.

I think it's the frustration of watching our fellow citizens behaving like animals and terrorizing the innocent.

Then turn your eyes from the news footage of the looters.

Yes, there are many that have gone wild. But there are also incredible acts of valor, kindness, and compassion. Ordinary folks pulling neighbors off of roofs with their flat bottom boats. Food trucks feeding thousands of meals. Water, food, and blankets coming from every state. Most people are not rioting, they are helping each other with what little they have left.

This event is so huge that all of this is going on at the same time, the good, the bad, and the ugly. The news crews are bringing back video of the most extreme, and rightly so. But in between, there is so much more happening.

If you need to feel encouraged, drive to the nearest Salvation Army or Red Cross Center near you. You will find people dropping off cash, food, diapers. You will see people giving up their holiday weekend to sort through boxes and load trucks. Maybe even pitch in and then you will be sure that there are some humans left among our nation.

You are absolutely correct. This compassionate conservatism and religiosity shows it's true colors right here. I think that is exactly what Jesus would do
